I'm not really that into politics but what you say in your work has caught my interest, so I'm going to watch you and hope I won't fall into my same habit of utmost laziness. You are talking politics right? Well whatever it is I like it.

Hey are you watching the convention?

P.S. Did you block me on AIM?

r3s3nt In reply to Scotland1099 [2004-07-29 02:32:59 +0000 UTC]

No, not really
I caught pieces of Clinton, Carter, and, of course Obama. I'm watching Edwards right now. To me, the conventions, especially the Democratic one (in my specific case, I guess it varies by political affiliation), are simply preaching to the choir. I know what I want and I know why I want it, and I've got a pretty good idea of what Kerry would deliver, so the convention seems a bit peripheral. They may be important for the moderates, however.

I didn't block you, but I have a suspicion: based on personal experiences- my sister, who for most of the year is at college, stopped showing up on my buddy list, and when I asked her if she banned me, she said no, but she thought I had banned her, because I was never on... the only issue was that neither of us had the other on the block list :/ we never resolved it, or found out the problem, but we started talking on Yahoo Messanger instead... so there are a few (and I do mean a few) options, if this is, indeed the problem.

Just my opinion, but this is actually a surprise that someone as well informed as you would simply skip the convention. As for Kerry unfortunately I missed the last day of the convention because I had to work late, so if you did watch that last day would you telling me what he said?

P.S. For your computer difficulties I would do a virus scan or defragment your computer. That is just a suggestion, but I always try to be helpful even if the suggestion may sound stupid.

yeah, I wound up catching a good bit (when C-SPAN re-ran a bunch of the speeches after 12am...) I really fell in love with Al Sharpton, so to speak... his speech was a, 'thems fightin' words' kinda thing.

I did see Kerry... basically he went over the major points (it was mostly fluff, but it was about what I expected)... what he did was calculate just about every point that the republicans would make in their campaign and countered it... effectively, too, I saw Ed Gillespie (Bush's Campaign Manager) after Kerry's speech, and all he really said in criticism was about how Kerry supported the war, too, and shouldn't act like he didn't... which sounded to me like basically saying, "Kerry agreed with Bush on Iraq. Vote Bush 2004."

What I liked was that Kerry didn't really attack Bush directly, instead he said something to the effect of, "As President, I will not have a Vice President who meets with polluters to change environmental policies. I will not have an Attorney General who uses and abuses the constitution for political gain. I will not have a Secretary of Defense who refuses to listen to Military Commanders..." which I liked. Pretty much all he challenged Bush on was asking to help run a clean campaign. Other than that, he went with the positive theme of the Convention, accusing the Republicans of being the real pessimists. I think he said something like, "Saying that the economy could and should be better is not pessimism, saying that it is foing the best it can is pessimism." That was a major paraphrase, it was much better stated than that, though...

The pundits liked it... to me, it just gave me confidence that he really can beat Bush.

I'll take your adivce, but if that doesn't work, I think I'm gonna delete AIM and just re-download it.

This is how well your 'leader' copes under pressure.
Quotes from user: Anti-Nazi
Valid points from: me

This was from me simple asking, "what do you have against Hitler" nothing more, nothing less.

"that fuck started all of this" - That is true, but that is not an argument, you don’t HAVE to be anti-Nazi, there are plenty of people that disagree with what he has done but don’t make it a way of their lives.

"at the same time if he wasn’t around ... alot more ppl would be alive today" - Statistics prove that if Hitler hadn’t killed all the people that he did then Germany and a lot of Europe would be suffering from over popularity and most certain poverty which would then result in wars, illness, and even further more disturbing results. Not to mention that other countries would have issues with immigrants trying to vacate from Germany because they couldn’t cope with the over populated life they are living, which would create almost certain tension in the European Union so we would not have as close relations with any of the countries we do now.

β€œalot of my family would have lived” – that’s the same argument as the last one but on a personal level. I am sure George Bush wanted to go to Iraq and blow everything up in his site after recent affairs but couldn’t as he didn’t have a VALID argument, just a personal preference.

β€œnazi punks wouldnt have started and my friends would still be alive” – You have just used the same two arguments as you did in the first sentence again.

β€œsee its fine if your not involved” – How in gods name do you know that I am not involved, for all you know I could be the leader of the biggest Anti-Nazi campaign in Europe and simple asked what YOU had against Hitler because I wanted to compare results. As it happens, I am not involved but by you automatically assuming that I have nothing to do with what goes on proves that you cant find any real facts to argue with.

β€œbut when it your family and m8 that are dieing then its a difrent story” – I am really getting bored of this no valid argument.

β€œthis is why i'm a brit / oI punk” – NO, if you believe in something then you would be your self but still hold the same opinions – you are stereotyping your self into a group JUST like Hitler stereotyped the Jews, black people, disabled people. Now, prejudice acts and stereotyping would have never been so well educed if it wasn’t for Hitler YET you are still doing exactly what he did.

β€œthis is why i'm an Anti Nazi Punk” – o_0 yes yes, stereotype your self, β€œoh oh I hate Hitler but I am going to do exactly what he did to my self”. I would have thought if you had really strong opinions about this then you would of at least thought about what you were saying before you tried to argue your Anti-Nazi campaign.

β€œi have a long and bad history with them” – β€˜I’ being the important word there, EVERYBODY has a bad history with Nazi’s, that’s why there are thousands upon thousands of books about the whole goings on. All will say that Hitler was one of the most intelligent human beings of his time. After all, we all want a utopia right? His idea of a utopia is just different from yours, so really your just being like him again and using personal opinions to sway your arguments rather then hard facts.

So there you have it, that is a mature, valid, factual reply to your post – as I am sure you were expecting a reply to your message. I would most certainly recommend that you re-evaluate your whole Anti-Nazi group and at least start to come up with some real arguments and points rather then just slander a person because you have heard that he was a bad guy.

I am not really intelligent and I am Pro-Hitler, nor am I racist…I am a realist, look at the facts and think logically.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 2

Scotland1099 In reply to amixiel [2004-07-12 04:54:08 +0000 UTC]

You have to remember that people from Europe were already immigrating to the United States. If Hitler hadn't come along and fucked it up then this probably would not be continued like a cycle. So Hitler fucked up the way of the world.

P.S. Have you ever been to Germany? Have you ever met any Germans? I have and they are so ashamed of their past that they don't even dare to display their flag except in government buildings. They don't sing "God Bless Germany"
(although there is no such song) because they are afraid the world will bring up their past to remind them what rampant patriotism did to their country.

You make me laugh to think that I give a shit about an exchange that took place between you and someone I happen to be connected with.

By the way, if you're a realist, look at the fact that Hitler killed 12 million innocent people and launched the world into the deadliest war ever.
