He covered it pretty well.  About the only thing I'd add:

"That title."  *ding*

What's uncanny about your timing is that a colleague was all set to give me what for two evenings ago when I made a point about the other three Jones films having decent narrative flow and...ahem...making some sense.  He misread me as attempting to defend that thing.  The "mountains into molehills" thing is something of a point as well, when the other times, the logo dissolved into an actual mountain.  It's as if the makers themselves knew that this one wouldn't be as good.

Hey!  I've got a question for ya, mr. Sega expert.

I came across a game earlier today called "Tales Adventure" (Game Gear), and I figured you might have some knowledge on it.  I hear it's supposedly like a Metroidvania (aka, a game that requires you to backtrack and use new items or abilities to get to areas you couldn't access before).  I like those types of games... and I like Tails!  Think it's right up my alley?  Would you recommend it, if you've played it yourself?

(I also discovered a wolf in the Sonic series.  I don't know much about 'em, and I can't find any official artwork of him... but he does look kinda cool - [link] )

Which, actually, is as it should be, since this is the ONLY game I know of that has Tails in the driver's seat (what's up with that?  MORE TAILS GAMES! ), and that makes it a dyed-in-the-wool collectors' item.  It's VERY hard to go wrong with a shooter; I mean, I can't think of a bad one, can you??  You'll also be the subject of my envy, since this is one of the few Game Gear games I don't have, and I have to pound through "Sonic Adventure DX" to play it.

Gotta warn ya: Fockewulf may look cool and all, but he's also the first boss--yup, another evil wolf.

Wait, are you talking about Tails Adventure or Tales Sky Patrol?  Both are on the Game Gear, but Sky Patrol is the horizontal shooter of the two.  Tails Adventure is a platformer, and I don't believe there's any shooter-type segments in it. 

(And yes, I know Fockewulf is a bad guy.... I'm sadly used to that by this point. )

Ah yes, I was referring to "Sky Patrol"-- regarding "Adventure", I can only go on what I've heard and been impressed with, and that's that "Tails Adventure" has some basics in common with the underground legend "Super Mario RPG Adventure".  There's positives and negatives there, which makes me think that it's a title you have mostly in order to impress others with the fact that you have it.  And hey, if one's a collector, that's enough reason to snag it.
