NickAlmand In reply to ??? [2011-01-03 16:48:01 +0000 UTC]

heheh! That's exactly what I was thinking. Sometimes I think marketing departments forget exactly which company they're working for. @_@

No worries, dude. Sorry I was late in replying, too. Holidays and all that.

How's the writing coming, by the way?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

advancedflea In reply to NickAlmand [2011-01-04 03:37:34 +0000 UTC]

They do lol. The company I work for has a new set of stores out called "Black" (replacing some of their "UK Electric: Digital" stores...name altered because I have made THAT mistake before now) which are all high-end electronics retail. I am not kidding you, if you go into one of those stores they are very...apple. The same with the Virgin stores. I think it's more to do with the fact Apple is seen to be the in thing at the moment. Their time will pass (thankfully)

aah with me it wasn't the holidays it was more along the lines of "damn it. not enough time. I'll have to reply to him tomorrow" ...every god damned day XD

aaas for the writing....slowly lol. writers block AND a new xbox. not a good combination lol. The one I'm posting right now, Quiet Mountain town...aka QMT thats been finnished years...I'm just lazy XD. How about you? how are your new chapters coming?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NickAlmand In reply to advancedflea [2011-01-11 16:49:32 +0000 UTC]

Hahaha, yeah, it's annoying for the moment, but it won't last forever.

LOL, aww, post the rest of QMT then.

Working on a novel myself, comics are crazy expensive to self-publish. Still shopping the comic properties around, so if those get picked up, I'll work on those, too. With the novel, I'm still world-building at the moment, designing and developing characters right now specifically.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

advancedflea In reply to NickAlmand [2011-01-12 23:00:36 +0000 UTC]

No. It won't. Some other company will come out with some "amazing" idea that everyone else is going to try and emulate. The funny thing is that the son of the guy who founded our company came into our store today (we're the flagship store for our chain) he'd been to our Apple-clone "Black" store and told us "I hate it. it's too much like Apple" ...which is still making me laugh 6 hours later

Hehe. You're a little bit too late to tell me to do that. did it already

Comics ARE crazy expensive to self-publish but Jamie Anderson of [link] "The Fancy Adventures of Jack Cannon" managed to pull it off at a reasonable price, all told by using IndyPlanet. They kinda fucked up on one of my friends orders but other than that they seem pretty decent.

So what novel are you writing, if you don't mind me asking?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NickAlmand In reply to advancedflea [2011-01-19 14:08:58 +0000 UTC]

Haha! You know it's bad when the owner's son says something like that.

Yeah, Razor Kid is available at IndyPlanet, actually. I was one of the first ones on that site back when it launched. It's still pretty expensive to finance on your own, especially if you're actually paying your artists.

The novel is something like Deadwood meets Carnivale through the lens of H.P. Lovecraft. It's an alternate history tale set in the Old West about a kid who is permanently injured while fishing for his village. Rendered useless to his community, he is sold to a cult that worships the alien horrors that are slowly engulfing the planet. He narrowly escapes their influence and teams up with an unlikely young outlaw on a journey to New Orleans in the hopes of starting a new life there. Unfortunately, there are more than just cultists persuing them on their way...

That's the short version, anyway. XD

advancedflea In reply to NickAlmand [2011-01-20 02:57:59 +0000 UTC]

Yeah. that was what we said. I was fixing someones computer at the time...I dropped my screwdriver. it was a small one too so it went inside the power supply unit. Had to fetch the bugger apart to get my screwdriver back, I thought it was that funny XD

Oh really? I shall have to go check that out. Allthough I am a little shy of indyplanet after they made a mess of johnnywhoas order for Jack cannon. Wasn't a total mess mind you and it did get sorted. But yes, I imagine it costs you a pretty penny, particually if you pay artists. People are any companies biggest outlay after utilities (gas, power, water etc)

Hmm. your novel sounds veeeery interesting I need to add it to my "must read when published" list

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NickAlmand In reply to advancedflea [2011-01-28 16:40:33 +0000 UTC]

LOL, nice!

Oh yeah, it can get really dicey. But Razor Kid issues 1 and 2 are on Indyplanet if you were ever interested.

Thanks, dude! I'm glad you like the concept. We'll see how things come together in the coming months.

So, what are you up to?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

advancedflea In reply to NickAlmand [2011-01-29 03:50:36 +0000 UTC]

Nice indeed....until YOU are the one who has to disassemble a power block. with all the wires and shit, they are a pain to get back together lol!! XD

The thing I don't like about Indy planet is their lack of professionalism & communication when a problem arises which, thankfully, it rarely does. And yes, I am interested. once I have some spare cash...or a better job, I shall head over and buy them. Mainly because it's a pain to navigate to the website to find my favorite pages when I have a perfectly good bookshelf!

Yes, I do Keep me informed and I'll check it out when it's more than a concept

What am I up to? Eh, not much. trying to learn the Melody to a song which recently hit the charts and has a tune that is uncannily simalar to 2 songs I wrote 10 years ago. Ofcourse I seriously doubt any plagarism happend I just think "hell fire, give a thousand monkeys a thousand typewriters..." that and I'm glad people are enjoying my music...even if they don't believe or know it's mine <3 How about you?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NickAlmand In reply to advancedflea [2011-01-31 16:49:39 +0000 UTC]

Hmm, yeah, I've had that happen with Indyplanet from time to time. But like you said, it's thankfully rare.

Will do! Research is almost done, now it's a matter of solidifying the setting and the characters to the point where I'm comfortable with them.

Oh geeeez! I've had that happen before, but with story concepts (I have literally zero ability to compose music). Great minds think alike, so it's bound to happen at least once or twice. =\

For myself, I'm gaining some forward momentum on a few projects. If things go well, there might be some good news in the future.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

advancedflea In reply to NickAlmand [2011-02-01 05:28:04 +0000 UTC]

yeah. I guess every company has blips in it's customer service occasionally.

aaah yeah. thats always the trickey part. Sometimes it comes very quickly, Like JK Rowling managed to get the charecters of Harry Potter to pretty much how we know them now while she was sitting on the London Undergound

yes! Indeed great minds do think a like but it sucks when it happens! lol. Allthough I think it has a lot to do with our subconcious. A rational explaination would be that someone saw your story or heard my song, liked it but forgot about it. Then a few years later some trace of it comes to the forefront of their mind and they re-compose or re-write what we did but with a few changes that are there because it's a trace-memory and not a flat-out word for word or note-by-note copy. Allthough I have had someone flat-out steal somthign from me in the past too. a DJ who claimed he "remixed" my song when all he actually did was chop off the last 26 seconds. Total tosser he was.

Oh awesome! well, let me know how they go I need to try and keep my momentum going on my projects. LONG list of crap to do with those though. Is it just me or does it get tiresome? lol

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NickAlmand In reply to advancedflea [2011-02-04 16:55:08 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, it happens!

It's usually a pretty fun part of the process for me, but I had to step away for a bit. Things are getting really stressful lately, so until things calm down I might have to put it on a bit of a back-burner. >_<

Yeesh! Coincidence and blatant theft are pretty distinct things. @_@ Sorry to hear that, dude.

I'll definitely keep you informed! I certainly hope I can relate some good news sooner rather than later.

Also, I followed you on Twitter. Found you through the Mahou Shonen Fight peeps.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

advancedflea In reply to NickAlmand [2011-02-05 02:33:10 +0000 UTC]

Yes. Sadly the company I work for seem to do it more often than not. With our new customer service & tech support thing coming into play soon, they will only get worse...and guess which mug works on one of their customer service counters?

ah for me...I dunno...I seem to just skip most that part. Either I'm writing fan fiction in which case the charecters are already established OR for my own work I develop them as I go. Allthough sometimes I will sit down and think "right, I need to figure out what this guy is all about because right now he appears to be a bit skitzo"

I'm sorry to hear things have been stressful for you lately. if you don't mind me asking; whats wrong?

nah. Don't worry about it. I know a good few DJs who are apparently putting the word out about the guy. So if I can't beat him I'll just destroy his credability

aaah good! I egarly await good news!

Okay, this internet is TINY. You read Shounen Fight?! Just 2 days ago I found out that those guys read the customers suck forums...where I frequently post!! Oh and whats your twitter name? I could have sworn I followed you too but I don't see you in my follower or followed by list. I think you may have followed the wrong guy....not sure how because my nick is pretty distinctive XD

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NickAlmand In reply to advancedflea [2011-02-09 16:55:49 +0000 UTC]

Aww... that's never any fun. I got lucky in that I'm rarely on the phones enough to have significant customer contact. My co-workers, however... *shudder* Poor sods. =\

Hehe, I understand. It works for some people to do that on the fly, but I have a very organized mind when it comes to creation, so I really have to have all my ducks in a row before I start actually writing a story. Whenever I don't, the characters are just wildly inconsistent and I tend to fall back on cliche' without realizing it.

Stress is mostly from trying to get some comics work drummed up. Got some good news and some bad news yesterday, so I'm trying to turn that bad news into awesome news as we speak!

LOL, yeah it's tiny as hell! I couldn't believe the Shounen Fight guys read my stuff, either! It seems we found each other on Twitter since, so that's cool. I can't post until I leave work, though, since it's blocked from these computers. >_<

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

advancedflea In reply to NickAlmand [2011-02-10 03:20:39 +0000 UTC]

Nope. It's never fun allthough I can say I have been lucky. I've dealt with a few customers who were a delight to deal with. Sadly they are few and far between but they all keep coming back to me and I know all their names...allthough the company expects me to remember every single name about every customer I deal with. I work in the biggest and busiest store of Europes biggest computer retailer...HOW do they expect me to remember everyone?!

Yeah I can understand why you would want to do that Like I said, sometimes even I have to sit down and take the skitzophrenia (hope I spelled that right) out of a charecter because if I don't he just seems to run around different personalities like a drunk child with a bucket on his head (Don't think too much about that simile. I certainly didn't) and is, like you said, wildly inconsistent. so yeah...putting all your ducks in a row...good plan (makes them easier to shoot >) )

I'm sorry to hear you had some bad news but pretty glad to hear you're clearly trying to make the most of it

I must admit I found SF first before Matt told me about Razor Kid but I was walking home thinking "Razor Kid. I have seen that somewhere before" it wasn't until I got home and checked SF that I noticed the link and it all clicked.

aaah well, there is a way to get around that kind of thing without getting detected. I could tell you how to do it ^_^

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NickAlmand In reply to advancedflea [2011-02-15 16:42:13 +0000 UTC]

Haha! I have no idea, dude.

Well, I hope things work out for the best. I'm going to try to get an update by the end of the week. *crosses fingers*

Haha! I just now noticed SF linked me, too! That's awesome! I should thank them...

lol, thanks, but I don't want to get in trouble. That sort of thing is even more frowned upon in this company than most.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

advancedflea In reply to NickAlmand [2011-02-17 03:23:19 +0000 UTC]

yeah...me either! lol

heh, they usually do but thanks and oooh, an update! awesome I'll cross my fingers too

might be a good idea. or link to them or somthing. thats what I would do

AhHA but! what if I were to tell you there was a way you could do it totally un-detectably? ...not that I am trying to convince you to break any rules or anything ;

oh yeah. you may or may not want to know that while browsing through Y!Gallery I found 2 bits of Razor Kid rule 34

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NickAlmand In reply to advancedflea [2011-02-18 16:43:37 +0000 UTC]

Hehe! Thanks! ^_^ I'll let you know if I hear something more, dude. Can't be too specific, but I'm hoping this works out.

Nah, but thanks anyway.

LOL! That's awesome! XDDD I was hoping for some of that sooner or later, actually.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

advancedflea In reply to NickAlmand [2011-02-19 04:35:16 +0000 UTC]

Thanks but I totally understand that you can't be specific. Hell, with my work I never WANT to be specific. Too afraid someones going to steal it. I know, it makes me sound like a paranoid fuck but I've already had someone steal my work (that DJ I told you about) I would rather it not happen again

Yeah fair enough. I understand most people NOT wanting to show complete disregard for their company's I.S. policy XD Just because I ignore ours at work doesn't mean everyone else will...or should

as for the rule 34ness...if you don't want to make an account on Y! Gallery and since I assume you're straight, I also assume you wouldn't want to do that XD I uploaded the RK rule 34 to my webspace for you to peek at through this link: [link] (the artist names are in the filenames)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NickAlmand In reply to advancedflea [2011-02-19 07:33:05 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, though with me it's also the fact that nothing is solid yet AT ALL.

No worries. ^^

Aaaaaand this is why it's best not to assume: [link]

Those are pretty awesome! I hope this starts a trend, hehehehe!! I've discovered more than one really great series thanks to Rule 34 in the past...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

advancedflea In reply to NickAlmand [2011-02-19 14:56:07 +0000 UTC]

aaaah so thats really why you don't want to say anything! XD but don't worry *Whispers* I won't tell anyone ;D

Ya know what? I HATE my gaydar. Seriously XD. It WAS going off for you but usually it's always WRONG. It's always wrong but I always give it the benefit of the doubt that the person might be gay because I'm usually good at reading people. The one time I DON'T listen to it and it's the one time it's actually right XD I was thinking like "I think he's gay....Naaaaah! He's not." Thats why I assumed you wern't. Sorry.

And yes! Rule 34 is great I found Ookiku Furikabutte, if Mark hadn't introduced me to it, I would have found RK through the Rule 34 of Ian & Alex the next day (it showed up in my updates because I watch the person) Fairy tail, Soul Eater...just to name a few

If you like rule 34 you should check out bumwolf.com and you should google search y!gallery and set yourself up an account there. it's a great website

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NickAlmand In reply to advancedflea [2011-02-21 16:52:24 +0000 UTC]

lol, yup! ^^

Hahahaha! Don't worry, my gaydar is CRAP. My dating life has always been utter and complete garbage because of it. Maybe it's just the area I live in, but I've met so many metrosexuals and straight guys who claim to be bi to appear "progressive" that I started to wonder if I was the only legitimately gay person I knew. =\ Of course, none of the actually gay guys like me, so it doesn't seem to have done much harm in the long run. >_<

I'll have to check out Y!gallery. Thanks!

Oh yeah, almost forgot! I'm going to go snag Ouran Student Host Club tonight! =3 I'll let you know what I think of the first couple episodes.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

advancedflea In reply to NickAlmand [2011-02-23 02:54:20 +0000 UTC]

Oh dear god, If I see one more metrosexual tosser, or one of those, as you put it "progressive" guys who is 'bi' I am going to take a swing at them. They are always attractive and never actually interested in men XD but I would agree with you, My dating history isn't all that good either so those Metrosexual queermos haven't really done much damage XD

it's well worth checking out. Plenty of porn to accomodate ANY taste. it's not all porn either which is nice <3

Oh DEFINATLY let me know what you think. Also if you like surreal stuff you should read "shadow walkers" I just got done reading it. fucking EXCELLENT. I shall be posting a review later <3

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NickAlmand In reply to advancedflea [2011-02-23 21:41:10 +0000 UTC]

They definitely ARE. >_< But yeah, bad, INSANELY short-term relationships aside... I really can't stand fauxmosexuals (I just looked up the term to see if I invented it, but it's already been coined. D'oh!). It just makes an already fuckin' impossible dating pool THAT much harder to navigate. I think there should be an Admiral Akbar poster for THAT. -_-;;

LOL, yes, Y!gallery is a LOT of fun. =3

Ooooh wow, Ouran Student Host Club. I'm 4 episodes in, and it's hands down one of the funniest anime I've seen in a while! They just introduced Renge, and I am LOVING that character so far. One of the things that just cracks me up is the fact that Honey is one of the two oldest members of the club. It reminded me of when I saw a Honey cosplayer at San Diego Comic-Con, and I was STUNNED to see a male cosplaying as him. X3 99% of the time that I've been to cons, Honey seems to get the "L treatment" with mostly female cosplayers.

Though, despite my morbid fascination with Honey cosplayers, I actually found him PROFOUNDLY disturbing in the show! O_O I always imagined him behaving somewhat like his age for some reason, but he goes WAY off the other end and acts border-line toddler-ish. XDDDD Soooo creepy, and yet absolutely appropriate to the point the show likes to make about fangirls.

I'm definitely going to keep watching it, the show is a really good work of parody. I already had Haruhi's gender spoiled for me thanks to a review, but MAN did she look like a cute guy before they cleaned her up. But then, I'm really attracted to nerds.

Cool, let me know when your review is up! I'd like to read it over!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

advancedflea In reply to NickAlmand [2011-02-25 14:20:38 +0000 UTC]

haha. Yeah, I have seen that word before, I'm afraid ;D and yeah, the current dating pool for guys such as us is pretty limmited and can be potentially dangerious water so WHY are these cockbags dead-set on making it harder? ;_;

Hell yes, Y! is a hell of a lot of fun. Right now I'm in a different country in the house of an artist that I met on there lol

Oh god yes. the Honey cos players are...Weird. "Special" I think is the word for a few of them lol. He does make a good point about fangirls though lol.

I think all the charecters do the same. look around at the rest of the host club, they all proove different points about fangirls lol

She DID look like a cute guy But I still prefer the twins. I kinda have a thing for redheads <3 allthough I am proud to say I am a MEGA nerd Glasses and all lol

Yeah I'll be posting it sometime tonight (possibly) and It'll be in my dA blog so I'll point you to it when it's up

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NickAlmand In reply to advancedflea [2011-02-28 17:18:18 +0000 UTC]

I have noooo idea why they do that. I think it has to do with very specific social environments and what's considered "popular" behavior. I'm thinking of hipsters here in St. Paul, MN... >=\ I'm glad they're not a bunch of reactionary jerkoffs, but they've gone WAY too far in the opposite direction, to the point where it damages the same people the profess to support.

Nice! ^_^ It's a great site, along with another site we discussed...

Yeah, one learns to be very afraid of Honey cosplayers. XD I'd love to meet a pair of twins cosplayers, though... >=3

Hee! I love mega nerds... X3

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

advancedflea In reply to NickAlmand [2011-02-28 18:09:54 +0000 UTC]

Yeah and as much as they may damage the reputation, the other people who damage it all these, as the british call them "Balls to the walls" gay rights activists and some of the real gay queens themselves. Hell, All I want is to be treated equally and have the fredom to love and marry who I want to. I don't think we should be treated better or differently just...the same.

Ooooh yes. There's that one, theres also Bumwolfs website (which I think I gave you) There's also this one [link] and if you search for "yaoi my toons" you'l find a few good ones on blogspot There's one or two more but I shall give you those on skype

Oh hell yes. I would be afraid of honey if I met him though. He's small but scarey lol and as for twins cos players...oh dear god yes. I'll take Haruhis place as their "toy" any time

hehe. Thats alright then I'm pretty sure if they held a competition of nerdom...I would rank pretty high
