White Sunday or Whitsunday is another name for the Pentecost. The day when the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles. To me, my love, my passion is a religious thing, and my sudden awareness of my passion and affection for this woman was not less than a religious experience, the spirit of love coming over me and becoming a part of my very existence.

It also refers to the nursery rhyme:

Monday's child is fair of face,
Tuesday's child is full of grace,
Wednesday's child is full of woe,
Thursday's child has far to go,
Friday's child is loving and giving,
Saturday's child works hard for a living,
But the child who is born on the Sabbath Day
Is bonny and blithe and good and gay.

For she is all those things ascribed to the child born on the Sabbath Day.
