Which one? Did the bridge get turned down, because I thought that one was pretty awesome. Mostly, you just submitted everything to featured and you needed to start submitting to other categories instead. We generally don't like to flood the Featured folder with too many of one person's art. For example, after your car and the barrel got into Featured, I moved the lamp post into Objects instead. But I can only move stuff after it's been approved. If people think that it's been submitted to the wrong category, they usually vote no so the person can resubmit to the proper one.

I didnt make a bridge, or a car, or a barrel?
It has a UZI submachinegun, with wooden grips.

Ah - sorry sorry. I had you confused for someone else because I had too many tabs open on my browser.
Right, well, the problem with you uzi is that the shaders and render quality is a bit below the general standard. The model's fine, just the presentation is lacking.

I ran it at the highest render quality you can get on Kerkythea, as are all my renders.
How would you suggest I improve it then?

Ah, just saw you're using sketchup. Unfortunately I've never used the app, so I don't know if it has an advanced rendering engine available. If you were using something like 3dsmax, I'd recommend switching to MentalRay instead of using the Standard Renderer, but I don't even know if Sketchup has a raytracing rendering engine available.
But even outside of the rendering, the materials feel a little weak still. Again, I don't know what sort of options are available when using a program like Sketchup. Sorry I can't be of more help.

how many weeks you need to wait for your work to be accepted on this group ??

I've noticed that a lot of the contributors will simply ignore a submission that they're seriously on the fence about or don't like enough to vote 'yes' on. It's easy to vote no on a piece that obviously sucks, and easy to vote yes on something that is clearly high quality, but when something is sort of in the middle, and the contributors are iffy on it, they tend to just X the message without voting. If something sits around too long without getting enough votes, it expires.

If you're so impatient that waiting two days makes you dislike a group maybe you belong elsewhere.

2 days is not very long to wait, there's not that many contributors and there's a LOT of stuff to go through. It's your choice to withdraw your application but you have to bear with us. stuff takes time, it's not automatic and we're not machines.

i don`t know man, i am active in another groups too and you don`t need to wait days for smth to be accepted. just couple of hours but they accept automatic work from members.

Cymae In reply to danny3man [2011-04-11 09:34:58 +0000 UTC]
We don't accept automatically stuff from our members. Everything goes through moderation. That's how we maintain the quality in our gallery and make sure people submit the right things. We get several hundred submissions a day, and membership requests aren't filed seperately. We are human too and need time!

Hello 3d modeling, I'm not here to submit anything, but would like to make you a question, which may be controversial.
From the works I could see in this group, many of them are photorealistical.
I just wanted to know, if one tried to submit anything with Dreamcast-like graphics, it would be rejected, right?
I mean, for people like me, photorealism is also a symbol of how games are turning nowadays. Every company seems obsessed with better and better graphics, but game genres are getting more and more restrict.
There aren't anymore constructive games like Sim City and Settlers, or RPG's like Skies of Arcadia and Shenmue, etc.
You see, these games had worse graphics than nowadays, but from a time there was more than gore.
Don't take this as offensive if you are gore fans, I just wished to say that there are no more games for people like me.

Low poly/low res and game art can still look really incredible and impressive when done right. A low-poly submission that was still done well and presented well would still get into the group. Example - if this piece was submitted to the group, I'm sure it would be accepted: [link] and it's very low poly. Same with this one - [link] and this one - [link]
Low poly, yes, but also very well made and well presented.

All right. I watched the three pictures, and I guess they could fit a N64.
That's to say, thank you for suggesting me such tributes to old graphics. They're indeed well presented and aesthetically good.

I added two submissions a few days ago, but it still says it's waiting for approval. Did it get lost in the pile, or does approving always take that long?

It does on occasion take a little while to get the number of votes required. Different categories have a different number of required votes... up to 7 I believe. I personally check every few days as I don't have time to check in constantly.. So I could see it taking a while... just bear with us

Quick question, should I upload this ---> [link] to the "Construction Shot WIP" folder or the "Characters" folder? I'm asking this because on my last WIP shot I uploaded it to the characters folder, yet it was approved. I'm just trying to make sure that I'm not doing something wrong.

Hello, i know this is a modelling group, but hopefully someone here might be able to help me with animating /rigging in 3ds max
i have a skeleton made from 3ds max bones and i want objects to be linked to the skeleton, but only from a certain time period
for example, the skeleton will be moving and an object will only follow the skeleton from frame 30 onwards
help would be appreciated!
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Athey In reply to Affet-kak [2010-09-28 22:52:19 +0000 UTC]
I can think of a cop-out way to do it. Have 2 copies of your object, one that's parented to the hand bone (whatever bone) and one that isn't. Visibility is keyed off on the one that's parented to the skeleton up until frame 30. At frame 30, you turn visibility on it, and turn visibility off on the original one. Bam - object that *appears* to be picked up.

Affet-kak In reply to Athey [2010-09-28 23:18:46 +0000 UTC]
hmm that might just about do it!
then all i have to do is align the non parented bones to the ones that are linked
thank you so much!
dont know why i didnt think of that!
