It's a strange feeling! As though trying to justify it.
But in all honesty, Preserving an animal so it can be admired for years to come is a beatiful thing, I think, as long as the animal wasnt killed for the PURPOSE of taxidermy. heh.

Ditto. And I use the rejects. Holes, missing parts... then I make them whole. Giving them a new purpose, where they can be loved and appreciated. Give them back some of their dignity.

:3 Probley a stupid question...but. If a pelt has no paws, is it still able to be soft mounted? And is there any way to get replacement paws? -yay stupid me-

Not at all a stupid question at all! Silly you for thinking so. ;D My buddy Joyride, the silver fox here: [link] has all new legs. He didn't have any, and he also has new ears and really wasn't mountable. But he's oodles of fun now that he's 'back together,' and more enjoyable in my opinion now that he's complete.
And Lefty here [link] needed a new left foot(wrist down) so to answer your question, yes! You can mount it without legs and paws('tube fox') or try to find it new legskins. <--- but that's the hard part. But if you look hard enuf and ask 'round, I am sure you can find some. Just make sure they have all of their footpads, of you'll have to start your search over. No pads = no feet. - New legskins come in handy as well, just in case the pelt you are repairing needs anything else.

Nope. All rejects from the fur industry. Most were meant for coats or scarves and such, not taxidermy quality. This is how I save them from becoming a craft, or from being thrown away and waisted. This way, they are fully appreciated, and don't sit in a closet stinking of mothballs.
