I am self taught. When I was in school, they didn't have dedicated classes for such things.

Impressive. I'm wondering.. how did you learn faces? This is the biggest problem for me with character modeling.

I learn the most useful things outside of classes, so yeah.. The classes are pretty boring to sit through, hah! Also, my school switched over from Max to Maya, so half of us (with a Max bias) are pretty angry about it.

The summary is that I don't recreate the wheel if I don't have to. The figures are all derived from a base 3D model. (Aiko, Victoria, others.) The features are changed through the use of weighted control points called morph targets.
