Using IE9 on Windows 7. Strangely enough all the IE only ones don't work, and all of the rest (except the -moz extension ones) do.

Cursor:none works from Chrome! <3 Actually all of them except the IE and the "moz" ones work for chrome. <3

for example: www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYkOT2K3Btc&feature= player_embedded
you'll just have to take tYkOT2K3Btc and insert that into id

Hello. I was wondering if there's some kind of site or place that I can go to test my code before putting it on my or other's pages. When I code for someone else there's no way that I can test how it looks on their page unless I abuse the crap out of mine hahah. Do you know of any?

Uhm... I can only think of Browsershots , but you have to upload your webpage somewhere else if you want to know how it looks. You can always use some free crappy hosting

Hi! c: I haven't really been making journal skins long, and I'm having a problem with the coding. The sidebar keeps repeating, do you know how to fix that?

I would love some help with something, how can I make the stamps I featured in my journal appear smaller?

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

Koto-wari In reply to ??? [2012-11-25 12:08:31 +0000 UTC]

Hello,

I'm looking for help to fix a problem with my journal skin. I don't have a problem with it per se since it fits my screen perfectly. But for those with smaller screen resolution (I have a 17inch, 1600x900) part of the journal is cut off on my main page. I know it has something to do with the fact that I used fixed values for width, but putting them as percentages/relative tends to mess up the whole journal lay out, since it's been aranged to have a width of 750px.

I was wondering if there was a way for me to fix my journal so that at least the text would be entirely readable and not disappear partially outside the screen. You can find the coding here: [link]
The text of my journal is within the "right" tag.

As an additional question, but not really necessary, is there a way to change the colour/transparency of the scroll bar?

Thank you very much in advance.

Thank you for your help. But I think I'm still missing something. I copied the entire journal coding and added .da-media[mobile] in front of ever class. Now, when previewing the journal the background doesn't jump anymore while resizing the pop-up window. This is a good thing, but the text is still cut off at the side. Isn't there a way to make the text shift depending on the size of the window (e.g.when the window is smaller the words that don't fit anymore jump to the next line)? I tried changing some of the CSS settings (like adding/changing overflow), but to no avail.
Again, I'm not too bothered by the header/footer image being cut off, though it would be nice if I could somehow add a horizontal scroll bar that would move the journal as a whole (allowing it to remain 750px wide). But more important is that I found a way to prevent the text from being cut off.
I'm no CSS-whizz, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's something small I'm missing...

Thanks in advance~

Have you tried using the word-wrap property? Or you might want overflow:scroll.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Koto-wari In reply to neurotype-on-discord [2012-12-08 12:10:37 +0000 UTC]

I tried the word-wrap property (as found on W3scrhools), and I got a message that it's forbidden. =/
That's what I did the day before, tried it again today. I get the scrollbar when my screen is smaller than 764px(?), but no option to scroll: the bar that you're supposed to move is absent and the arrows are transparent.

neurotype-on-discord In reply to Koto-wari [2012-12-08 21:33:16 +0000 UTC]

Is it actually long enough to need scroll? Also, I definitely meant overflow:auto not overflow:scroll.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Koto-wari In reply to neurotype-on-discord [2012-12-08 22:09:15 +0000 UTC]

Auto doesn't work, I tried. And it's not that it's too long (since that works fine), it's actually the width that's the problem. I heard from some people (who have less wide screens than me, i.e. smaller than 1600px)that when viewing my journal on my main page (the username.deviantart.com one), the right side gets cut off and they're unable to read/see what's cut off.

neurotype-on-discord In reply to Koto-wari [2012-12-08 22:16:59 +0000 UTC]

Did you fix the width? max-width is a safer property than width.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Koto-wari In reply to neurotype-on-discord [2012-12-08 22:50:38 +0000 UTC]

Putting the journalbox and right section to respectively max-width:750px and max-width:590px seems to have solved the cut-off problem, thank you. But now the "right section" jumps below the "left-section" when the width is smaller than 750px. Do you have any idea how to solve that? If it's any help, you can find the CSS coding in here: [link]

Thank you again~

When I'm not using my browser on "full screen size", this is what it looks like: [link]

neurotype-on-discord In reply to Koto-wari [2012-12-09 03:09:25 +0000 UTC]

Oooh strange. I've sene this happen to me when I have a wrapper around the box that is a little too narrow. Make sure your padding + margins + actual widths add up to less than the whole thing.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Koto-wari In reply to neurotype-on-discord [2012-12-09 12:35:59 +0000 UTC]

So, if I understand this right, you're saying that the width+padding+margin of the right (i.e. the text) and that of the left (i.e. Stamps etc) need to add up to less than 750px (the total width of the layout)?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

neurotype-on-discord In reply to Koto-wari [2012-12-10 05:43:17 +0000 UTC]

Yeees. Try it, anyway

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Koto-wari In reply to neurotype-on-discord [2012-12-10 17:08:00 +0000 UTC]

I tried, and this is what I got: [link]
As you can see, it still jumps. =/
(I think it adds to 749px, less than 750. If I change (max-)width anymore, a gap appears on the right side.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

neurotype-on-discord In reply to Koto-wari [2012-12-10 18:57:10 +0000 UTC]

I think the 20% width tag is messing it up.

Koto-wari In reply to neurotype-on-discord [2012-12-10 21:00:13 +0000 UTC]

No, it would seem it's not. I removed it, and I still get the same result.
