Animation is whurr its AT, yo. So I'm really glad they inspired you. I'll keep a lookout for if you post any up, and feel free to note me at any point for advice with planning out the particulars of your motion. Programs like these ( [link] [link] [link] ) are good for scribbling out classical animations without having to contend with Flash, and you can always bring the sketchy results into Flash later on and ink/colour the frames to your liking.

well hai thar. =w= how goes post-grad life? blown any Canadian animation companies away with your awesomeness yet? 8D and, yes, i know it's awfully soon after graduation to be asking that, but by the time u sporadically decide to log in and actually read this, u never know 8D

Haha, you know me well, considering how long it took me to log in and see this! >_>;
I've had an encouraging number of positive responses from companies, but they've all been accompanied by them saying they like my stuff and will keep me on file, but have no jobs available at the moment. I'll just have to keep at it until I find an opening, I guess! Trying to keep 2D animating and painting meanwhile to stay at least a little sharp, since I don't have any means to practice 3D until I get my desktop up here. Also been planning things for my wedding which is approaching all too quickly, of course!
Well, keep me posted on how things are going for you and with Southern's projects and I'll try to keep you posted on mine too. xD <3

eck, well hopefully a position will open up at one of them before too long. at least they have u in mind. it's good that u'r drawing and stuff in the meantime. you should post some of said stuff here when u get the chance
her her, and here i thought u'd be impatient and get married the day after graduation, like my sister did. XD i should draw u two some sort of wedding present. :3
as for me, i'm working on RnR right now. i've been texturing the king and his clothes just recently and wanting to kill Cassidy for the insane amount of detail she designed on them. unfortunately, i've missed a lot more days of the summer session than i'd have liked, since i've come down with another nasty bug. (according to Brandon, i get less sympathy for being sick when i draw cute animal faces on my masks, though. XD )
anyways, more and more shots are finding their way to finaling, and they've been rendering in the evenings when we all leave, so hopefully more finished shots will be pumped out soon. the latest animatic was fantastic. it's really starting to come together, storywise. plus, the scribe has the cutest voice now. they actually got a 4-year-old to come in and be his VA :3 we're also in the process of deciding which project we'll tackle next year. there's quite a number of good suggestions so far. i'll keep you posted. :3
btw, ur "need help printing something?" sign is still up... i saw it yesterday and thought of u. :3

Here's hoping, I guess! I'll get around to posting some stuff here soon enough. >3>
Haha, no way, getting married is such a huge ordeal I'd never have been able to get a wedding together by then. As it stands, things are coming together in time, but just barely.
Aww, a wedding present sketch would be sweet of you if you found the time. x] I'm sure we'd each sketch you something back as thanks.
Man, I don't miss me some RnR. I guess at the same time I do, though, since I miss 3D animatin'. I'm glad to hear everything's still coming together on it, though! Try not to off yourself with all that detail to manage in texturing. x_X;
Hah, I always said I'd draw faces on my masks too if I wore them, but I always figured marker fumes would be all @-@; from breathing through it.
I'm glad they re-voiced the scribe, I think that'll make that part stronger. And I'm excited to find out what projects get put into the pipeline! Is Danger Planet still making any progress, to your knowledge?
Hahaha, I am all too pleased that's still up. Hopefully if it gets taken down it'll still get stuck back up outside Zach's office or on Robin's office wall. Gotta keep some memory of my greatness up around there.
Oh, Crys and I found a program today that we think you would like and should share with the others at school. [link]
It's pretty good for being free and so small.
Also, do you use Sai for any 2d painting? I think you'd like that too.

yeah, i know what u mean, if it wasn't for the x number of my sister's friends/family/coworkers/church members pitching in and helping for free, she'd never have made it in time. ^-^;
anything in particular u 2 want me to draw, or should it be a surprise? :3
eh, i'll survive. the worse thing about the ubber amount of detail is getting it all to line up properly in maya. =o=
haha, yeah.. the marker fumes... x_X but if i draw it the night before, the fumes fade before i have to put it on. Doug keeps telling me that i should paint it... but... that would kinda interfere with my ability to breath through it, so i decided that that would be a bad idea..
i don't think anyone's working on Danger Planet right now, but i could be wrong. i know Dana's come in a couple times to work on Ramenisis (sp?), though. good to know he's still alive, since he kinda disappeared last semester.
they should just keep it where it's at just to confuse the underclassmen that need stuff printed. xD
ooooh... sculptris looks really kool @w@ it seems more like z-brush than mudbox, only a lot easier to use than z-brush since it's actually a 3D program and not 2D and 3D's retarded lovechild like z-brush is... i downloaded it just now and i like that the movement in it is similar to maya and mudbox. i'll have to mess around in it some more later. :3 it might actually be perfect for a project i'm working on right now in my spare time. i wonder if it's compatible with maya... it looks like u can import and export an .obj, anyways. oh.. i found where u can export the texture as a .psd, too... @w@ it actually looks like it would work just fine with maya. :3 that's fantastic. i'll definitely spread the word about it. :3 thanks for the heads up. :3
i've never tried sai before, though i keep hearing about it.. i always just use photoshop... i guess i should actually get around to checking it out. :3

Hopefully we'll have enough help in the end to get there. >>;
Surprises are loved, but I sent you a friend request on FB in case you wanted to browse photos and see what Crys looks like if you were inclined to draw the two of us or anything. <3
I was never able to get textures and maps and all that to agree with me consistently in Maya. -3- 3
Hah, I don't think paint would end well, no. But the drawing it the night before thing is smart.
I hope Justin's still making progress on Danger Planet here and there. I'll have to text him and see. Shocked Dana's been in, though, since I know they were talking about taking his project and finishing it themselves if he didn't show some interest. >>
May my handsome self-portrait confuse many freshmen.
I'd hoped sculptris would be appealing for those reasons, so I'm glad it seems to be good for your purposes. x3 Would those purposes be that Laurence model you've got going? It looks like it's coming along nicely.
I'll toss you a quick message with a SAI trial link. <3

i have accepted said friend request :3 ur name on there makes me giggle. i remember searching for u on there at some point in time but couldn't find u... now i know why.
did u ever try using mudbox? it's way more maya compatible than z-brush. the colors always seem to be off, though, and i have to tweek them in photoshop... it's a pain, because the RnR characters all have darker skin, but then when i put the texture maps on that were the right color in mudbox, they're suddenly much lighter in maya than intended.. >_< luckily, mudbox's displacement maps work perfectly. :3 i never could get z-brush displacement maps to work right.. 3
i've seen Justin around, but i'm not entirely sure what he's working on, since i've been working in the smaller lab... i think he miiiiight be part of the team working on animating the opening of RnR, but i'm not sure. oh, did u know they were doing the opening in 2-D animation? all the flying down through the clouds explaining what's going on stuff... it looks really kool so far. i think everyone is really relieved we're not doing that part in 3-D. Cassidy's also working on that.
i think i've only seen Dana there like twice this summer.. so idk... course, i keep missing days and spend the time that i am there in the other room, so idk if he's been there more.
yes, indeed, those purposes have to do with Laurence. :3 actually, Laurence is only 1 of 12 characters i'm going to be making. today, i made the second character, Alex. :3 actually, it was more like i mutated my Laurence model into Alex... but that way, i might be able to figure out a way to cheat blend shapes. >_> i also have to do environment stuff and whatnot, and all that stuff will need textured. :3 it's actually for a manga i've been developing for the past 7 or so years called DokuBaku. i figured it would be easier to just model stuff to be posed out, and do rendering/compositing with some drawn elements added than having to draw everything... i think it'll save me time in the long run, and it's good practice for characters.. plus, i might do quality renders of some of the stuff for my demo reel at some point in time. horrah. :3 but mostly it's because i realized that every time i draw my characters, they look a little bit different.. >_> sooo.. this way i don't have to worry abt staying on model either. 8D
thank u for the sai link :3 it looks like photoshop and an oekaki program had a lovechild... but this lovechild's a genius, unlike the retarded z-brush lovechild resulting from when 2-D and 3-D spent a drunken night together. i'll have to mess around in it, and see what i come up with. :3

It was well-deserved. Looking through your gallery, some of your pieces remind me somewhat of Max Ernst's 'Europe After The Rain' and 'The Eye of Silence' from the visual texture you've achieved. It's good stuff, so I hope you keep it up. x]
