I'm just trying to figure out the best distribution platform. Most other file sharing sites suck. I'm thinking Dropbox, but they do have an arbitrary bandwidth limit. Oh well, I'll give it a go.

Hey there again! Could you offer some more help on drawing ponies? I find that I don't know how to keep the facial outline over the eye when the head is in a tilted angle like in the animation with Derpy and the lava lamp. Also, how do you animate the movement of the iris?

Sure! Can you be a little more specific, though? Do you mean the stroke of the face? What angle? Are the eyes correctly placed, but then when the head moves, they lose their position and begin to cover the stroke?

In Derpy and the lava lamp, her eyes are tied to the face layer, so they don't move at all relative to the head layer unless instructed to do so. The layers for the face (and thus the stroke) are always behind the eye, though - if the eye went right by a few pixels it would overlap the stroke, in that animation.

Regarding the iris, which part are you interested in? The iris/pupil moving, or the blinking, or..? This is possibly application specific, so it would help to know what you're using

A late response...I've been busy lately.
The stroke of the face. It seems that in the show, they find some way to keep the eyes from overlapping the face stroke at a tilted angle like this: [link]
If the eyes move too much, I find that they begin to cover the face stroke.

The iris I suppose. The blinking seems like it may be easier, but how do you do it anyway? I'm using Synfig Studio, which might not help you a bunch.

Ah, I'm not sure how to do any of this in Synfig (though I'm sure it's much the same).

By angle, do you mean the head is turned to one side, or do you mean the nose is pointed in an upward or downward direction? I'm guessing the former?

One way you can do it is to mask the eye layer such that it becomes invisible if it encroaches on the stroke.

For the iris movement, I simply set up the pupil/iris as an object within the eye layer. Like any other layer, it can then be keyframed to move and slide around, smoothly or rapidly. Same goes for changing its size. Meanwhile the rest of the eye can be moved around or rotated, and any such transformations are applied on top of what you're already doing to the pupils because they are subordinate to the master eye layer itself. This means you can do things like manipulate the head without having to then move the pupils so they're still within the boundaries of the eye socket.
