yes, i used photomatix. but actually these were single exposures, which were shot as raws and slightly overexposed, then tone mapped, plus some post-processing to reduce color intensity and enhance b/w contrast

I also made my HDRs from single raw. I use Photomatix too but in special cases i use Mediachance.
Could you write me about post-processing? What did you exactly do? I still have some problems with. Are you PS user?

i use gimp ... basically a ps clone (freeware) ... in my view, the most important tools are the tone curves (make the straight line a sigmoid), the color saturation (de-saturating some colors can enhance the others indirectly, very effective!), and the brightnes/contrast. there is not really much more i can explain ... just try it out, it'll work with some practice!
