Hmmmm, usually it will tell you if it needs to go in addons in the readme, most stuff you can just drop in the garrysmod/garrysmod folder (like you just said).
I know that some stuff requires you to have games like Half-Life 2 Episode 2 installed and stuff, but I can't quite understand why everything is coming up as errors or purple-black squares.

yeah i do both ways just in case. I don't care if i get double haha. OH! ... That might be one of the case and reason why I cannot have them.. Because I technically do not have half life and counterstrike stuff.. I do read the read me files but sometimes they do not provide them. Anyways. I have the half life 2 goty edition but when i put it in the steam and all that process shit scanned 5 of the discs all it says in my steam is that preload is complete and when i double click them it says I need to purchase the game and I look in the box and i see the discs in there and laugh.. I think I might need a code for it but it did not come with it. =/ lol.

To run gmod properley, I think you need to have stuff like Half-Life 2 and CS:S. If they aren't installed or something like that, then that could be your problem.

funny because the gmod game has the half life characters and weapons but sad that it does not run so properly so I had the gosh darn thing install for nothing? that's really disapointing.. i hate valve haha.

you know what else sucks? I just read another map i saw on gmod website and it says you need half life 2 episode 2... there's episodes too? What the hell? haha do I bloody need the whole collection of valve just to run garry's mod properly?

I get bored too quickly lol.. It's just the same zombie survival the whole time not to mention horribly bad team mates that leave you in the middle of a special infected attack. I could blog about this all day about what i like and what i do not like about it.. kinda wish it had some story to it in single player.. maybe cutscenes and stuf. Also with team fortress 2.. Valve always fails with storyline games due to the fact that they are mostly just multiplayer whores. I hate valve.
