I think I'll still be using the sheezy account for putting up my journals, though...

Ah, long time no see. How's life been treating you?

Alright, I guess. I seem to be awfully prone to missing deadlines, though, which is troublesome. Not sure which is scarier--that I'm in my senior year of college now or that my work ethic might not be able to get me to graduation. As usual, there's always something else stealing my attention away...and right now, this site seems to be it. I have caught the Gijinka fever; made my first submission earlier today (which if I read their FAQ correctly means I'll be lucky if it's up there by Halloween), and now have to have the self-discipline to put my work on a Gijinka Pupitar (I pick Pokemon that no one's done, because I'm massively insecure about my drawing ability and having the only one makes mine the best by default) on hold long enough to work on a project for my Digital Imaging class. The current project is about space and perspective; we're supposed to create a space that does not exist in reality. Making it surreal is encouraged.
Naturally, my "space" is going to bear more than a passing resemblance to the Spear Pillar, complete with reality-warping Gijinkas. I'll wait until said project is finished and graded before submitting it, of course; and I'll probably make a separate version with the Gijinkas enlarged, because the focus of the project will be less on the characters and more on the setting itself.
Of course, I have to find a way to squeeze in research for a paper I need to do for my Math Seminar...a paper which is already overdue. And I need to do a concert review for my History of Jazz class by next Tuesday, which means I'll likely have to go to *gulp* New York City sometime this weekend. Ah, well, I suppose public transportation isn't really that bad... (I absolutely refuse to take my car into NYC. It's too beautiful; it would be a magnet for car thieves.) But, of course, there's no time to worry about that now, because both the paper and the preliminary sketches for my rendition of the Spear Pillar are due Wednesday, which is also probably about the time that I'd be scheduling a make-up exam for a class that I blew off last Friday, not realizing that I had an exam. In other words...the following 36 hours are likely to be very, very painful. Um, but other than that, everything's fine

What's the difference between Cell-Shading and Soft-Shading? o-o

Cell shade is anime-style shading. It's taking the colors of preference and knocking them down to just two shades- one for highlights and one for shadows. Of course, there can be three or more colors for one certain thing, but two shade looks about right and it's what most people use. (Hint: spriting or this: [link] )
Soft shade, however, goes to the more realistic side of artwork. Soft shade generally takes longer (unless you're a no-good cell-shader like me ;; ), but the result ends up being soft and realistic with several hues for one area of the body rather than just two or three. [link]
