Real words? Like, Hudson Bay?
You should see the jargon
that them geo-geeks toss around!

Oh? Yes! Well, a step at a time:
I have to keep reminding myself to not let width of scope
get in the way of productivity, so,
until I can actually show concrete results,
I'll just stick with the Pegicornitaur idea, here.
These days I'm totally enthralled by the possibilities
offered by downloading grayscale elevations from the USGS,
then processing them to heart's content with Gimp and Blender.
This is probably an engineering trait:
I absolutely have to understand the context
of what I'm trying to do; context,
in this case, meaning a continent
βor a chunk the size of California + Nevadaβ
with environments relevant to Pegicornitaurs,
and so, yes, I figured I should "watch" the precious few artists
whom I know to have tried their hand at winged monocerotic centaurs!

Yeah, winged monocerotic centaurs... and one-horned flying horse-girlies, too!

ΒΏ? Compare with actual bamboo along the Li river :
there is a similarity, don't you think?
Anyway,
they're gonna need something like hemp or flax to tie the bamboo.

Conifers at high elevations, bamboo in the lowlands.
Gotta have bamboo
to make a proper nest...

And, thank you for allowing me to use it in an upcoming "slideshow" ref. Pegicornitaur landscapes and nesting spots!

Sorry about that - I didn't recognize your avatar and username until after I had already sent that last message - I know who you are - lol!

ttobserve In reply to Valedhelven [2009-11-11 16:35:44 +0000 UTC]
Ah, yes: here's a brief explanation: [link]
Would you believe ttobserve didn't even have an avatar
until I started thinking of this possible joint project of ours?
So, avatar: yeah, I whipped up something affine.
The original idea is an allusion to the gallery forest of βpalmsβ along the coast of AΓ―.
The modified version has only one trunk,
but adds (technically, a mask for) a frond, with 60% transparency,
to give an allusion to the big sun of Muu NaΓ― (big in the sky, that is).

Valedhelven In reply to ttobserve [2009-11-11 17:57:42 +0000 UTC]
Okay, I see it now with the explanation And I will be sure to keep an eye out for it in the future, so that I don't keep asking you the same silly questions over and over
Just glad I could provide you with some sort of avatar motivation, I suppose, though I still don't know what I did

Aren't we?

Yes, we are... eventually I have many other things on my plate right now to finish up, and the holidays approaching are not very conducive to doing manips, either - but the ideas are definitely percolating around up there in the ol' grey matter, so never fear

Thank you!
Now please, pretty please, don't hurry!
I have a decent rainbow model right now, and am packaging the how-to, part 2. After that, I can go as far as a pair of Millennium Kids dragging the rainbow along, but thereafter, I'm gonna need that foal.
A couple of days ago, I signed up for DAZ's fastgrab alerts, on the slim chance that said foal could come trotting along, soon.
Otherwise I really don't feel like spending any money until tytania reunites with her daughter and can, seriously, get a cancer treatment started. I've contributed only 1+2 dollars so far, but I'm prepared to double, again.
And again.
π: 0 β©: 1
Valedhelven In reply to ttobserve [2009-11-11 21:55:55 +0000 UTC]
Well, I'm not sure who's left that hasn't contributed yet - nothing new came in today, so I'm just waiting on some junk on ebay to sell for me so I can send her that, too. I was really hoping that with so many watchers, if even half of them gave $1 that would have been more than enough, but there are probably a LOT of my watchers that don't read my journals, and even more that don't have a dollar to spare these days, so I'll keep plugging away at it!

Never mind.

Your secret identity is safe with me, as mine is with you.
Anyway, a couple more doublings and we enter commission-fee territory.
Did you ever read Shatia Hamilton *Nashya 's interview, where she declares to have helped pay a reconstructive spinal surgery for her mother by way of commissions ?
It occurs to me that tytania's art is so crowd-pleasing...

Please - no more doublings! Paypal is threatening Chas again if all of this doesn't stop NOW... and she needs that account to run her art sales... Without it, I'm afraid all I have done here is cut off her only other source of income!

As a special "thank you," I am continuing to offer one giant cookie for every fave! So enjoy and come back when you're hungry again!

PS: I'd be interested to know how you found my artwork, if you remember... Was it just random browsing, or a search, or in someone else's faves? Or maybe you've come to visit me before and I just don't recognize your username/avatar yet?... Just curious

ttobserve In reply to ttobserve [2008-10-15 00:33:29 +0000 UTC]
Horses engaged for November 7th, 2pm, near the bottom of this satellite image .
We cross the Aconcagua river and head north.
Mantagua is the creek where once in my youth
--only once in my life-- I found these colonial rotifers .
It was Summer, and the flow of water had stopped.
The creek was reduced to a succession of pools, teaming with tiny fish.
Up close, it called my attention that the water contained some kind of odd specks:
tiny gray balls, of uniform size, that drifted like any other little scrap in the water, except--
they didn't quite follow the breeze or the general drift: they seemed to have a mind of their own.
A small fish swallowed one, and promptly spat it out. How come?
At the time, I had a pocket microscope that magnified 30 times (though poorly),
and with it, I could just barely make out what these particular fluffballs were.
I see them as a symbol of matrimony:
They are individuals, still, but they no longer roam their separate ways.
By amalgamating, they lose efficiency--
their wavering swim testifies to the difficulty of agreeing which way to go!
But it is only when they band together that they can protect themselves
from the "giant" killifish that surround them.
Dancing shoes? On sand?

Ok, got it! I guess flip-flops would be more appropriateβ¦.
COMPROMISE, term understood by many creatures (except human) as a mean of survival. Like the βcolonial rotifersβ the blue bottle [link] observe similar behavior.
