I grew up when color tv and photography were in the final years of eliminating b&w and I remember all the people talking about the merits of B&W vs color. Color has it's place most of the time. I mean, examine the original Wizard of Oz vs the colorized version as color made that movie into something great that it was always lacking. But then, you have a lot of the gangster movies prior to 1970 and efforts to colorize them... they failed miserably and began creating the idea of film noir anew. When everyone does art in color, B&w really stands out and you can see how great it can be.
