Welcome! you're a day older than me to da, and the same age, and 3 out of 4 of your favourite movies are up there in my top 20 or so favs - so you're ok in my books!
I think you should not be put off by the scary writers and instead be "man enough" to submit even more! From what i've seen of said writers' own confessions, they're here to learn more - just like me and you.

PS: that better be sarcasm, coz there's way too much damn apathy in this world.
