Hey Carly, thanks for your wonderful comment on Other Side of This Life!
When I use multiple layers, it's a way of controlling the density and contrast of an image. For instance, the original 1 megapixel shot was terribly undersaturated, so layering up the color upon itself brought out the richness. All my work is purely digital, but the approach is inspired by the film darkroom itself, repeatedly "exposing" the image against itself for an optimized result.
In any case, yours was an especially wonderful and dear report, and I definitely hope we'll see more of one another!
