while i agree with your idea. i know someone who got bullied on dA because of you. i basically don't agree with your methods, and you've got to remember art is subjective, no one person has the right to claim it's not, and everyone starts out somewhere so you've got to let them do it!

Art is art!
Just because there is bad art on here doesn't mean anything...I mean really there are artists out there who were once terrible but they then turned out to be brilliant artists! What do'ya expect this place to be?

There are AMAZING photographers, poets, artists of all kinds who would like their art to be appreciated instead of dopes who post their pictures here and want people to comment on how pretty or ugly they are ._.

I agree with pretty much all of your statements except for the one about fanart. Yes, it's not good to copy someone else's idea. However, many people take other's ideas and put a new spin on them, make them into their own style. Also, people enjoy looking at other's fanart. I can't imagine a world where nobody drew fanart. It would be a lonely world indeed. Lastly, fanart can be very impressive, a lot of the time.
Yeah. So don't diss fanart. It's just another form of art, and if you don't like it, then suck it up and deal. It's going to be around for a long time, and there's nothing you can do about it.

Some people post doodles, and vacation photos or random fuzzy photos with their cell phones. They also like post MYSpace stuff or other things like doodles on their homework. It's not against working artists.

I still think its better to just encourage good judgement. Besides, what if people have no scanner or good camera with which to upload pictures? If someone posts something dumb, it just wont get viewed much *shrugs*

Well, I agree with several other people down there. I'm totally for banning those people who are using this as a MySpace community...DA is supposed to be about ART.
However, that word in itself is subjective. One may consider a black and white photograph of a wrapper of gum placed at a unique angle art, whereas another takes extra care to shade and color his/her drawings into their perception of art. Art simply has no true textbook definition.
Another point. Just because someone may not be an astounding artist doesn't give anyone reason to bash or want to ban them. Everyone has potential for improvement, and that's what this community is about: support and sharing of talents and ART.
Reconsider what you're trying to 'Save DA' from. Not from bad artists, because there is no such thing, but from people who are here just because they can make an account. They usually end up leaving the accounts that go unused forevermore anyways.

I agree with ShunketsuKayto. This shouldn't turn into a myspace, but it's definetely necessary for artists to get together here to share their artwork and meet new people. However, the bad artists WILL get better if we support them. There are plenty of people on dA who aren't yet very good, but have potential to be much better. We should help budding artists get better by supporting them and helping them see what they need to work on.

See, now I'm all against DA turning into another social club and such...But then again, I spend more time here then I do at myspace or various channels like that. Occasionally, I post the odd journal about life and such, but mostly it's about what Im working on...
Which brings me to another point. What constitutes bad art? For some of us, drawing is something we're just starting out on...
For me, I'm a writer, and just recently began drawing. and my work isn't NEARLY what some other's is around here, but Im definitely trying at it...point is though, to some people my work may look like it has no effort put into it, and it really does...
In any case, if you're supporting what I think you are, I'm all for it
