There's actually a petition to ban the Twilight books at this [link] . I kinda doubt it will ever pass, but seeing as the books are absolutely dreadful (for dozens of reasons), I had no qualms about signing it.

On IMDB, I asked, "Which came first: True Blood or Twilight?"

I asked this question because I'm not a fan of either series, but the differences in mind-reading really piqued my interest.

Sookie can read everyone's mind, and she's thrilled when she meets Bill, who (unless I missed my mark) can help her drown out everyone else's thoughts. She can't read his mind because he isn't mortal, right? I can understand why she would be so drawn to him. I mean, if I couldn't ever shut everyone else's thoughts out of my mind, I'd be very happy to meet someone who could help me do so.

I don't care much for True Blood (maybe I'll enjoy it more if I read the novelizations instead), but I abhor Twilight.

In Twilight, Edward Cullen can read everyone's mind, except Bella's. All of Smeyer's explanations are very week, in my opinion, but I won't debate that topic, since I haven't read all of the novels.

The Sookie Stackhouse novels (which TRUE BLOOD is based on) were published before the first Twilight book was published.
Dead Until Dark (the first book in the series) was first published in 2001.
Twilight (the first book in the Twilight series) was first published in 2005.
