Cherrydale the dark chao went over to Ling Ling and Fletcher's house, Ling Ling wanted to play ball outside but Cherrydale wasn't interested.in it. She did notice a staff propped up by the wall and decided to play with that. Ling Ling caught her attempting to touch this however and emediently went over to stop her from touching her aunt's staff. Cherrydale was disappointed by this, but Ling Ling has a very good reason for doing this.

See, Fashi's staff can only be used by those who it has chosen to wield it. If it senses someone who isn't her or anyone unrelated to her it induces a powerful electric shock to the intruders. LingLing doesn't want anyone to be injured by this and always tries to stop anyone from touching it when the staff is left unattended.
