Description Of course while out I had to play on the tracks and noticed we are finally getting a fastrack. This will be the North Metro Line Fastrack. Wonder where it will take us....

I like this. I could imagine being on a train, right at the front watching the scenario unfold as I raced along, listening to the sounds of the track... OKAY I know this is between the tracks but this is viewers license...

I think the high-speed concept just doesn't fit with the old rails.
They have so much construction working going on that trains necessarily are delayed.

1001G In reply to Vampirbiene [2012-12-11 17:12:58 +0000 UTC]

Oh I was just talking about promptness I dont like high speed

Vampirbiene In reply to 1001G [2012-12-11 17:18:57 +0000 UTC]

Neither do I. On one of the tracks that I used to ride quite often a few years ago I got dizzy and even nauseous because of the speed combined to the new inclination technique. Promptness suffers a lot from the construction work which should make the whole net more modern and faster.

Tell them not to go that way....speed kills. Thats y Ill never drive in germany..if you get in a accident on the autobahn you can pretty much say goodbye

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Vampirbiene In reply to 1001G [2012-12-13 15:55:35 +0000 UTC]

According to recent studies it's more dangerous to drive a car than to use the train.
I guess my instincs are just right. I do not like driving, and I prefer to use public transportation. Driving on the autobahn always freaks me out.

1001G In reply to Vampirbiene [2012-12-13 16:56:35 +0000 UTC]

I believe it..... And I always thought everybody over there doesnt mind the autobahn

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Vampirbiene In reply to 1001G [2012-12-13 17:05:04 +0000 UTC]

The reason that nobody seems to mind the autobahn is probably that speeding tickets are rather cheap here. I mean you have to pay a 1000 dollar fine for littering in the US, but you get away with like 100 euros for speeding here. I think that speeding and harassment in traffic should be punished more strictly.

1001G In reply to Vampirbiene [2012-12-13 17:26:00 +0000 UTC]

and they get fined on the spot right, I mean you have to pay right away? We might have a steep fine for littering but I think they never catch anyone. You should see some of our interstates....its pathetic

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Vampirbiene In reply to 1001G [2012-12-13 17:33:59 +0000 UTC]

It's unusual to get fined right away. Usually there is no real person on the spot to stop and fine speeders. They get photographed and then a letter will be sent to them. The worst case is that you get fined a certain amount + you're registered for speeding + you lose your licence for a while.
I don't remember many highways in the US. I remember the signs "No littering" because we didn't know what this meant right away. It's pretty much the same here. Although the fines are ridiculous, the never catch anyone anyways. Some people even use the resting spots on the autobahn to throw their garbage away.

1001G In reply to Vampirbiene [2012-12-14 16:29:51 +0000 UTC]

I thought so to but my brother over there said he was. That's how they do it here to, with photographs and if they do catch you they give you a ticket that you have to pay or go protest with. Its terrible how people liter. Went to a store yesterday and when I got out I looked down and somebody had dumped there ashtray on the ground. Cig butts everywhere. They only had to walk a few feet to the store entrance because there was a big trash can there.

Vampirbiene In reply to 1001G [2012-12-14 18:18:02 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I think that within city limits they may stop and fine you right away.
But I have never experienced this. I once was photographed on the autobahn. I hadn't seen the speed limit sign because a truck passed by me. Anyways I got a huge fine (I was a student back then and 120 DM were a lot) + I got registered.
They liter everywhere here too, mainly, because people are so lazy and neglectful, but the worst littering that I have ever seen was in Crimea.
