I'm pretty sure that everyone has heard of the phrase 'eyes are the window to the soul'.

It makes me wonder if people took the time to look into mine. Into my soul and see all the building blocks and holes and patches that make up whoever this 'me' is. If someone can look long and close enough they actually see all the things that 'I' am. All I'm feeling.

Then I realize that is just a very large joke.

If we could look into each others eyes and see all that makes them up, wouldn't we never be able to sneak things? To cheat or lie? Spies and liars wouldn't exist. People wouldn't be in turmoil or wars, relationships would be much less catastrophic and socializing wouldn't be too bad, because just by looking into each others eyes we would see everything there is to know.

But that is also a joke. That seems more like everyone having the power of telepathy or something.

So maybe it isn't all that much of a joke.

After all, we all get vibes from each other, an animal instinct that that person is 'bad' and 'I don't think I'll like them'. Or maybe the opposite of 'they look nice' or 'I think their smile is cute'. Maybe our eyes have something to do with it.

Sometimes I feel my eyes just aren't big enough windows.
