Description
Deep in the far future, capitalism has won. Hypercorps fight wars over planets just to add to their workforce, bringing new meaning to the term "Hostile Takeover." Planet spanning companies gamble on internal stock exchanges, with stock quotes in the billions being dwarfed by galactic quotes in the quintillions. The middle manager oversees an entire continent of working class peasants, only to be passed over for promotion by the younger, hotter coworker who oversaw the next continent over. The average person is such a small cog in a grand machine, they won't be missed when they inevitably keel over at their retirement desks, let alone comprehend the sheer size of the company they work for. Even the "nobility" are managers at best and the board of directors are slaves to the financial line going ever upward. Even the once grand CEO is chewed up and spit out, their golden parachutes sometimes more literal than figurative.
There is hope, in small places, where money isn't king. It's quickly stamped out, but to those who can hold on to it will find that hope tends to attract hope. Maybe, just maybe, change can happen, and the grand galactic machine can be overcome.
Hope won't be found here, however.
While any company worth their salt always keeps a few elite armies on the payroll, they aren't as disposable as Todd down in accounting. And even Todd has more value to the company alive than not. So when in need of an army that is meant to be thrown through the meat-grinder, these companies turn to Dynamika Eukrasia Meditech LLC. DEM enjoys some semblance of independence from the various Hypercorps of the galaxy through its creation and usage of the Anthroparia, artificial humanoid soldiers with only the most basic of organs to allow them to function. They have a brain, heart, lungs, and few other organs, but lack a digestive system, their mouths only usable for communication. They also lack an immune system, and endocrine system. They are given a mental download of any information they need, leaving them emotionless organic robots, similar to the Xenobots of Elder Terra.
Most Anthroparia only live about a week. Even if theyre not killed in battle, they often die of "starvation" as the nutrients they were born with are used up. Their pain receptors are dulled just enough to allow them to react to the stimulus causing said pain. Their ability to feel emotion is dulled, and little personality is allowed to develop. They are meant to follow orders to the letter, their own thoughts of little matter to their superiors. To say they're even sapient is a debate left to the scholars.
Though there are rumors of an Anthroparian soldier having gone rogue, though such a notion is silly in the grand scheme of things.
Pictured here are two potential customers looking over a sampling of Anthroparia Soldiers. The one on the right is considered subpar in quality, and will be allowed to grow another week. If it does not reach optimal growth in that time, it will be "flushed" and used in the creation of new Anthroparia.
