Description the RP was so long that I couldn't fit it into one post so- this is the first 20 pages worth of the RP!

ITS LONG but if you read it all i greatly appreciate it!
----------------

Whispers behind her back- she knew that’s what they were doing.

Witch- witch-

When had being one been such a bad thing to her?

The wagon came to an unexpected stop that caught the Fennekin off guard- she had almost fell completely off the back of it. “Why- why are-w-why are we stopping?” She asked the puller- a Zebstrika. They stomped their hoof in the sand and huffed. “This is where I was told to bring you miss.” They looked annoyed… “I-I thought- we were- g-g-“

“Going back to Tabira? Yeah- even I can’t make that in one night- the guilds want you to meet up here miss, sorry to tell yah.” The Zebra Pokemon let out another huff and stared at her with an unreadable expression. “M-mn..” Peach was too tongue tied from being interrupted to really answer- but she had jumped off the cart. To think falling off of these earlier had gotten her lost in this wide expanse of sand… She briefly wondered if she would ever meet that Eevee again, but quickly shook her head of the thought.

It was hard to miss the new faces, a tall pink… She didn’t actually know that Pokemon- and a tiny Skiddo. The moment she looked his way she felt an uncomfortable chill run down her spine- but she didn’t know why…

A cloaked figured, his hood drawn over his head, poured over the note he clutched in his paw.
Reading it over and over again, he had figured out where it is and where he needed to go. Quite a few minutes ago, honestly.

Walking passed everyone in the crowd, he paid no mind to most. Too focused on his treasure hunt.
His black cloak was unfitting for the environment he was in, yet it was a cherished present. He'd never let it go, even if he'd suffer more by the canyon's heat because of it. The symbol of a Sceptile skull and cross bones emblazoned it's upper back, showing his pride of his former life to anyone who saw it.
Yet most probably just thought it was a fashion statement.

His eyes not looking where he was going, the figure felt a sudden light impact in front of him.
It seemed he had bumped into someone! Stumbling backwards, he regained his composure, though he dropped the note he was reading onto the ground.

Noticing he had bumped into a rather anxious looking Fennekin, he immidiately set about checking to see if she was alright.

"I'm very sorry for that ma'am," He spoke worryingly. "Are you alright?"

She looked shaken and only let out a hum at first. “Ah- um- y-yes I’m… I’m fine…” She avoided eye contact only to spot the note that had been knocked away- buried in the sand. Peach quickly picked it up and game it a quick shake trying to rid the sand.

She briefly looked over the notes- just skimming and picking up few words. “The… Ca-Canyon?” She whispered- almost too quiet to hear.

Wait this isn’t yours-

“O-oh I’m sorry uh- I-I’m sorry I should-shouldn’t of read that..” Peach handed the note back nervously- she was so stupid…

The cloaked figured smiled under his hood, projecting a certain sort of welcoming kindness.
Gingerly taking back the note, he shook his head.
"Don't be so sorry ma'am," his voice carried a hint of a chuckle, though not one directed towards the Fennekin before him.

"You aren't the first to read this note, honestly. I've been trying to gather information on what's written on it for a while..." The figured brought a dark azure hand to chin shrouded in shadow, the white bubble on the back of his paw giving away that he was a Riolu underneath.

His ears pricked up as he gasped silently. Grasping his hood, he gently pulled it back to reveal his face in full.
"I'm sorry, I'm being very rude," He bowed. "My name is Reef, it's a pleasure to meet you,"
The rather young looking Riolu gave a very gentle smile towards the unfamiliar Fire-type in front of him.

Averting her eyes again she answered “Peach…” it was very clear she was uncomfortable but she didn’t leave. “I- if I had ever bee-been there b-before I-I’d be able to f-find it but…” Peach debated whether telling the stranger about her witch back ground was a good idea, she used to share it with everyone but after what happened at the meeting she… She just didn’t know.

She then looked over to the crowed- they were all darting everywhere doing tasks and helping out… She didn’t want to be near such a crowed. Maybe looking for this secret test would be the best option. “I could… I-I could help y-you search for it…” She asked, still avoiding eye contact- though that was just what she did.

"Peach, huh?" He said thoughtfully. "Why're you called that? Because you're sweet?" Reef gave a kind laugh at the obvious joke.

Reef allowed the Fennekin called Peach to try her best to get across what she was trying to say.
Silently thinking to himself about how much she seems to stutter. 'I hope she's alright,' he thought.

Hearing her offer to help him search, he gave a thankful smile. "Really? You'd help a complete stranger, huh? Well seems like we've already got something in common!" the Riolu offered his paw, indicating he wanted to shake Peach's hand.

"Here's the deal," he said. "Whatever treasure we find, you can have your fair share of it. 50-50. It's the least I can offer," Reef sounded rather tender as he said that.

"So what do you say, partner?" He put a bit of emphasis on that title, indicating that he'd do his best to look out for the Fennekin. As well as indicating that he already seems to see her as his friend.

Peach reluctantly shook paws with the Riolu. “Honestly I- I-…That’s f-fine..” she changed he mind midsentence- it made it very confusing  but it was too late to fix. “I-it said it was near- th-the canyon right?” She briefly wondered that bridge she had cross was apart of the canyon… If she was being honest she didn’t really know what a canyon looked like. Having grown up on a farm it was mostly flat plains.

Peach bit her bottom lip in worry, over something so small as asking a question but with a sigh she composed herself. “You-y-you wouldn’t happen t-to know wh-where the canyon i-is would you?”

Reef nodded. "Yeah, the note all but confirms where the ruins are. The people I've asked said that it's got something to do with a bridge, but honestly I've never seen something like that out here," He shrugged, as if to say 'that's life'.

"Anyway," Reef parted his cloak, revealing that he was carrying a sort of satchel slung over his left shoulder and resting on his right hip. On his opposite hip was a sheathed cutlass, hooked onto his red waist sash.
The eager Riolu rummaged around in his satchel, giving a subdued victorious look as he pulled out what appeared to be a Canteen bottle and handed it to Peach. It was cold to the touch.

"I've got about two more of those. This place is no joke, so we better stay hydrated," He gave a smile laugh. "I mean, I know the heat means nothing to a Fire-type, but still. Better to not go dry,"

"Anyway," He cleared his throat. "Here's what the note says in full," Reef unfolded the note to it's full size and began to speak.

"Look beneath the rocks in Ywaru Canyon. A juicier history awaits for Those brave enough to seek it. For Those valiant challengers: do not let your endurance falter, even in an uphill battle. Numbing death will find you from the walls. Water has long left these time-worn caverns; do not neglect to bring your own. Ancient cobalt regalia from a forgotten era will be your reward. Godspeed to those who risk their lives, and goodwill to those who do not."
After finishing he folded the note back up and looked at Peach.

"I've got a good idea of what it means, but what do you make of it?" He asked. "This is a partnership after all, so I need to take what you think into account,"

When the canteen was handed to her it was as if she just remembered that she had been lost in the desert with nothing to drink. She took a big gulp, probably taking more than she should of. “Ah- th-thank you…” She handed the canteen back to Reef, she felt at least a little better.

“I-I don’t know I-I’m not very good at f-figuring out th-these things…” A hot red blush of embarrassment spread across the Fennekin’s face. “I-If anything- s-sounds like it m-might be high up?” it was obvious she wasn’t very confident in herself.

There was a very simple way she could make it back there but she felt as if she didn’t enough proof that was the canyon the note was talking about- or even if it was a canyon. She looked to Reef and then back to the sand beneath them- she could use the tracking spell but how would he react? How would anyone react? There was a bunch of ‘ah’s’ and ‘um’s’ but never a full sentence. It was probably very annoying she thought. But this was gonna be harder to admit the longer she kept it so with a sharp breath in she stated “I’m a witch.” Surprisingly without any stutter whatsoever. “I-I have a s-sp-spell that could k-keep us from g-getting lost…” There it was-the stutter- but now she waited in anxiousness for a reply.

"Oh really?" Reef said without a hint of surprise. "That's cool," He smiled. "Good to know we've got a way to find it. I was trying to figure out the map the note came with, but triangulation just isn't my thing, sadly," The Riolu sighed.

"But good to know we've got magic on our side!" He gave a thumbs up to Peach. He put away the Canteen Peach gave back and pulled out a rather tattered looking map.
"It's faded beyond recognition," He sighed again. "I think the original intention was to figured our the location of the secret place by using old landmarks," The rather learned Fighting-type explained.
"But since we've got your magic," He smiled genuinely. "We can get there without any problems!"

Ok- that was not the reaction she was expecting. Peach just sort of stared speechless for a while before snapping out of it and responding with “Ah-y-yeah.” She then made little glowing marks in the sky as her paws, forehead, eyes started to glow a faint blue. “Un ged meor gisgdon ur” She spoke in a forgotten tongue and then a blue light lit a path straight to where she had just come from. Then the glowing on herself died down- leaving only a dull headache in it’s wake. “So- i-it’s like a string we-we just-we just have to follow it…”

That spell was one of the least exhausting she had-Peach had had problems with fainting from magic usage all the time. But still she felt slightly winded, with a deep breath she started following the light. “I-it’s… Um… l-let’s go?”

"Magic never stops being so cool~!" Reef spoke sounding like a child (which he was).
Seeing the path light up before them, he smiled at the Fennekin. Walking close to her, he gave Peach a big hug as a means of gratitude.
"Really Peach, thank you." He said, still hugging the Fire-type. Pulling back, he continued.
"You're a pretty cool girl to do this for me, you know? Again, thanks..."

"I honestly didn't want to go exploring on my own anyway," Reef sighed. "So...I'm glad I met you. And it definitely helps that you're a part of the guilds!" He seemed to see that as a plus.

Taking Peach gingerly by the paw, he began to lead the way towards their destination.
They walked and walked, Reef doing his best to seem as friendly as possible to Peach, since he really honestly wanted to be her friend. You can never have enough friends, he thought. And Peach seemed like she might need a friend as well.
"You know everyone who's grown up in Tabira has this look about them," He suddenly said out of nowhere. "Yet you don't have that kind of look. So I'm guessing you moved to Tabira, right?"

She really didn’t appreciate the hug- she wasn’t one for physical contact- and when he started leading her by the paw, well… She supposed this was fine. But she did try to pull back her paw at times.

“Ah- w-well I come f-from a sm-small village. I-it’s east of Tabira…” Her face scrunched up in an unusual way- thinking of her home brought many mixed feelings. She wondered how her siblings were doing… “I-“ she began, but interrupted herself with self-doubt.

There’s nothing wrong just say it.

“Hey… Um-u-usually poke-pokemon react ba-badly to witches… I- I- th-thanks for n-not doing that… I guess…”

"Yeah, I kinda noticed that," Reef said in response.
Noticing Peach was tugging away from his grip, Reef decided to let go. He gave a slightly pensive look. "Sorry about that," He apologised for being so physical with his contact of her.
"I just thought you'd like the hug," He explained himself.

"Anyway, no worries," He smiled at her. "I don't think all Witches are bad, honestly. Some of my friends from before I came to Tabira are Witches, believe it or not," Reef reached behind his head and rested his paws on the back of his head as he walked.

"And you?" He gave the Fennekin an honest look. "I can tell you're a good person. Your Aura says so. So don't worry about you showing your Magic around me," His eyes seemed to carry a real sense of acceptance in them.

"You're my friend Peach. Maybe it's a little too early for me to say that, but I like to think you are," The young Pokemon gave a kind laugh.

"So since I asked you a question, you get to ask me one!" The Riolu sounded rather excited.
"So go on," He grinned. "Ask me anything you want!"

Peach could feel the nervousness knott in her throat- she knew nothing- she was very afraid of saying something wrong, but most other things were irrational fears that always seemed to be there. She quickly looked over the Riolu- she couldn’t just ask him the same question he’d think she didn’t care. “Ah d-“ No that’s a stupid question-“What- mn” Stupid, stupid. He was wearing a cloak- had a bag for items…

“Do you… T-tr-travel a lot?” As she finally asked the question she could see the familiar camp on the horizon- fire still burning bright- she quickly averted her eyes- she really didn’t want to see those two right now even if they didn’t really do anything wrong…

Reef gave a slight chuckle. "That obvious, huh?" He asked rhetorically.
"I've actually been traveling since I was born. I've gone to islands and continents that you wouldn't have even heard of!" The Riolu sounded almost like a story teller.

"I've been on adventures that you'd never believe and seen so many kinds of Pokemon that Tabira hasn't even seen yet!" It appeared as though he was getting really excited.
"Mind you, being born into a crew aboard a ship tends to help with that sort of thing," He laughed.

Noticing the bright light that was far off, Reef squinted his eyes. "What's that?" He asked.
Reaching into his satchel once more, he pulled out a spyglass. "Some kind of camp?"

Peach hummed nervously. “It’s- I- I was just there i-it’s for the-the purified water…”She could see the silhouette of the Meowstic inside- it made her uncomfortable and she gave the area a wide berth. Even though the light didn’t seem to care and lit right through the time camp site. Peach could only feel relief that the guild leader inside did not seem to notice it. “It’s um- it-i-it’s not far from here- when w-we get to the br-bridge we’ll have t-to search for it our-ourselves… Th-the spell only w-works with p-places I’ve been t-to be-f-fore…”

"That's fair," Reef said. "I think we can figure it out on our own anyway. It doesn't seem to be that hard of a riddle,"

The Riolu was silent throught most of the walk. A burning question on his mind, but he didn't feel like making Peach anymore uncomfortable.
Yet eventually, the child's curiousity made him cave in.

"Hey Peach," he looked at her, an inquisitive look.
"I'm...making you uncomfortable, aren't I?" He asked.
"I mean, is there anything I can do to make you more comfortable? I don't honestly mind, it's just that, well," Reef tilted his head at her in thought.
"You seem like you're gonna have a heart attack at any moment."

"Do you not like being around me?"

She stopped dead in her tracks.“No-nono-I-“ She took a shaky breath in. “I-if I’m being honest- y-you’re probably th-the nicest pok-k-kemon I’ve r-run into-“ she looked to the side worryingly. “I-I’m just-I h-have a hard t-time talking w-with anyone…”

Even him… Wait- her head started to pound- and she winced a little, she just walked pretending it didn’t hurt. “It’s my fault I-I’m sorry…”

"Oh no, don't take it the wrong way," Reef said, a bit of sweat rolling down the side of his face.
"It's just...you seem so scared of everything. So I was wondering if there was something I could do to make you smile a little," he explained himself as he reached back into his satchel and pull out the Canteen Peach had drank from before.
He also pulled out what appeared to be a small bag of rather juicy looking berries.. "Here," He offered the Canteen and bag of berries to Peach. "You're looking a little light headed. Make sure to keep drinking and to have a few snacks here and there," Taking his own advice after wiping his, Reef took a drink of one of the other canteen's he had prepared.

"Just," Reef gasped, licking his lips after taking a sip of his prepared drinking water. "Please...don't be afraid of me," he seemed almost pleading as he said that, looking a little sad.

Peach just nodded and took the pouch. She rummaged through it until she had gotten her paws on her favorite one- the pecha berry. She took a big bite of it then took a sip of water. “Mf-f-fankfs.” She said with a mouthful of the berry still being chewed on. She swallowed the last of it and then tried to hand it back. “… I-I’m not afraid of you p-persay… Just what P-Pokemon might d-do…”

She tried to quicken her pace a bit- having passed Menthe’s tent she knew the bridge wouldn’t be far from here. Then she could finally head home- thinking about it she instinctively let out a rather large yawn. That’s right she hadn’t really gotten a moment to rest since she had been abandoned in the desert.

It didn’t matter- she had gone without sleep for longer- she could push through this.

"Can't wait to get home, huh...?" Reef asked. "Yeah. I'm right there with you, mate. This week's been...really a massive drag..." He sighed.

Feeling the heat again, Reef took a drink of his own canteen. "Agh," He gasped, "Wearing black today was a bad choice," the child laughed, trying his best to relieve some of the tension between himself and his partner Peach.

"Peach," He started. "You really don't have to worry about me," Reef smiled at her tenderly.
"The only thing I want is...well to be your friend," He grinned. "I hope...you can allow that, at the very least. Because well, although I'm motivated to find treasure deep within this 'hidden place', I'm more than happy if today just turns out to be the two of us just spending time together,"
There was genuine care and even love behind his words. What he inflected almost seemed like something a hero from a fairy tale would say, yet even still, Reef meant every single word.

"You're a sweet girl," He said. "And really, I've said it before. But I'm thankful you wanted to help me. Thanks Peach..."
Reef rested a paw on the center of his chest as he looked down at it. Feeling his own warm heart beat calmly within his body.

She glanced behind her at the Riolu- she wasn’t one who could take compliments and tried to shove it off with a “Yeah thanks” and a hum. “Y-you’re welcome…” all of this was making her feel weird- no one ever told her this stuff- so she didn’t believe it.

You shouldn’t you’re horrible

They were at the starting of the bridge now- the very steep cliff she had climbed down a while ago stared her right in the face. The light flickered and disappeared leaving a little crackle of energy that she could feel in her being.

She sat down finally and breathed out. “I um- If we spent time togeth-er-er it wouldn’t b-be the most exciting…” Peach didn’t look at him while telling Reef- she just stared at the rocky cliff in front of them… The entrance was probably near the top…

The Riolu gave a smirk to his partner. "How do you know it won't be exciting if you haven't even tried?" He asked rhetorically.

"How's about we just give it a try?" He proposed to Peach. "Once we get back to Tabira, we can spend a little time together. Over tea, reading a book together, discussing interests, whatever really strikes your fancy!" Reef grinned at the Fennekin.

Staring up at the cliff that they had been lead to by Peach's spell, Reef whistled in amazement.
"Dang," He said. "That's a pretty steep cliff," the fighting-type stated the obvious. Looking over to Peach, he gently rested his paw on her shoulder.

"You feeling alright, mate?" He asked her in a caring tone. "If you want, we can take a rest before we start climbing."

“Th-that would be… OK- yeah…” The answer wasn’t completely certain- but she enjoyed tea… It should still be enjoyable shouldn’t it?

It was really steep and her joints ached. Peach hummed and nodded in agreement  moving a bit further from the bridge and sitting herself down once again. “A- a rest would b-be great…” She had to make sure she stayed awake though… for multiple reasons. “I-if I start to do-doze off pl-please wake m-me up…” Though how much her acquaintance seemed to talk she hoped she wouldn’t  have a problem… Not that talking a lot was a bad thing…

Reef seemed somewhat apprehensive at Peach's request. He could tell that the Fennekin wasn't holding up too well. He thought that maybe she'd be a lot better if she took a quick nap, yet even still...
"Well, alright then," He shrugged and sat down next to her. "I'll be on the look out while you rest."

Reef had grown up in a world full of 'Free Pokemon', Pokemon who chose to live life how they personally wanted to.
In that life, he had learned not to get in someone's way when they decide on something. Let them do as they wish, don't take that freedom away from them. Let them decide their own lives, don't dictate it.

"Hey Peach," Reef stated, staring off into the sky. "Have you ever..." He smiled, thinking what he was about to say was a little silly.
"Have you ever wondered what it'd feel like to fly through the sky?" The Riolu asked.
"I remember all of these stories about cities that were created beyond the clouds and stars. Beyond the reach of any of us down here," Reef, as if to make his point, reached out with his left arm. As if to grasp at an unreachable treasure in the cerulean sea above.
"Do you...suppose that a city in the sky exists? If not now, then perhaps a long time ago...?" There was a great sense of burning curiosity in his tone.

She looked up towards the starry sky. “I- I’ve never- heard of a place i-in the sky be-f-fore…” There wasn’t a lot of clouds in the sky now that she looked- I guess that’s to be expected in a desert like this. She blinked slowly, sleep heavy but she couldn’t- she wouldn’t fall asleep.

“M-my mom, she u-used to tell me anyth-thing was possible s-so… Maybe…” She played with sand between her paws- just feeling it on her pads and watching it fall off. She looked up at Reef- or more so his canteens and berry pouch. “Would it… B-be ok t-to have s-some more of… The b-berries and water?” she pointed to it with a paw- she didn’t want to seem rude.

A quick bite- a quick bite and then they could continue.

He smiled at her. "Sure thing mate," Reef said, reaching into the small bag of berries.
He had taken note of what Peach had eaten before, so he decided to pull out a handful of Pecha Berries alongside the canteen.

Holding the handful of berries in one paw and the canteen in the other, Reef gently cradled the Pecha Berries in his palm. "Here you go," He said with genuine care. Holding out both paws full of juicy berries and refreshing cool drinking water.

She chugged it back greedily-you’d think she’d be more shy eating and drinking in front of people but it was probably the one thing she was fine with. “Thanks…” And then she thoughtfully nibbled on the berries while looking at the cliff- scanning for anything that remotely looked like an entrance.

There was a slight breeze that carried the silence between the two- she had no idea if Reef was comfortable but… Well she felt a bit more at ease. The way he rambled, he definitely wasn’t out to hurt her…

You’ve been wrong before.

“H-hey- I-I’m sorry if you th-think I’m b-being mean or boring o-or-“ She took a deep breath.”You’re f-fine I just- it t-takes a while f-for me to even… T-talk right.” When she finished she took a bite out the last berry she was given. “Ah, w-we can, we can start l-looking now i-if you want…”

Grabbing out a Roseli Berry, Reef took a quick snack alongside Peach, smiling as he enjoyed the juiciness of said berry as the flavour exploded in his mouth. A look of pure enjoyment on his face.

Hearing Peach, Reef's ears perked up at what she had to say. Smiled in reassurance.
"Hey, don't worry about it," He said tenderly. "I know that some people have a hard time opening up. My friends Sonya and Yang weren't really as open as I am when I first met them," He chuckled to himself at remembering his first encounter with The Pathfinders.

"But now?" He asked rhetorically. "We're as thick as thieves," Again, Reef chuckled to himself at that joke. Knowing that it meant to him.

Standing up from where he was sitting, Reef slung his satchel back over his shoulder, hiding it under his cloak.
"So don't worry about taking so long to warm up to me," He smiled at her again. "Take your time. I'm not going anywhere," the Riolu pulled out the note concerning their destination.
"So again, don't be afraid to be yourself around me. I won't ever judge."

He started to read the note over to himself again, mumbling and trying to figure out what each aspect of the riddle means.

“Y-you know Sonya and Y-Yang?” Peach exclaimed- surprised at the fact he knew them too. “They… H-helped me with s-something l-last time I saw them-“ She stood up and stretched her front legs. “W-we can walk and talk- i-if you’re OK with that…” She was antsy- she didn’t want to stay still.

"Oh?" Reef's eyes widened in surprise. "You know them as well?" His smile seemed to get all the bigger at realising that.
"Hehe, small world!" He giggled.

Reading over the first part of the note, Reef continued to talked as he looked around for an entrance.
"Those two were actually my first friends that weren't guild officials," Reef explained.
"I actually didn't have any friends outside of people like Cassi and Topaz. Most of the members of the guilds I'm on good terms with, and...well I like to think they're my friends anyway," He shrugged.

"Anyway," Reef lifted up a big rock, expecting an entrance, but finding nothing. Sighing, he placed it back down. "I met Sonya and Yang about a week or so before we all headed out here to the Canyon. I..." Reef looked a little worried for a moment.
"I haven't really seen them since all of this stuff with The Don went down. I saw Yang during the raid on the reservoir, but not Sonya..." It was pretty clear Reef was really concerned for their safety.

"I'm sure they're fine," He reassured himself more then anyone else. "But...I can't help shake the feeling, you know?" He sighed again. Shaking his head, he looked back to his partner.
"Sorry about that Peach," He apologised. "I shouldn't drag the mood down like that," He scratched the back of his head nervously.

"So how do you know them?" He asked. Again, reading over the note.

"'Look beneath the rocks in Ywaru Canyon', that's probably not literal, but still..." He mumbled to himself. Trying to figure it out.

“I- I’m not-“ She stopped herself- it was just so odd to hear anyone being friends with the guild leaders when they have been rather cold to her. Well except for Vander but- she wished he was as cold as the others sometimes.

She could understand the worry but she stayed quiet- not that she knew why. “W-well we could al-always check- th-the other side of the bridge? There’s l-lots of rocks i-it could be along them…”

Usually she was the one to follow advice not give it but something told her it must be on the other side. She got up and started to trek over the bridge, thinking about only a few hours ago how she had come the other way to cross it. “S-someone- ah do you want to hear something cool?” Peach asked trying to start up a conversation, anything but scilence…

Reef gave a smile, following Peach as she lead the way over to the other side of the bridge.
Admittedly, it was interesting to see the Fire-type take charge however brief it was. Initial impression was she'd just follow the Riolu around while he tried to find the entrance.
'This is nice though, seeing her take a bit of initiative,' he thought to himself with a smile.

Hearing Peach ask him if he wanted to hear something of interest all of a sudden only made his smile grow wider.
It was odd that she had this sudden change, where moments ago she was so timid. Yet until proven wrong, he didn't see this as a bad thing.

"Sure," he said. "Go right ahead, Peach. I'm all ears!"

“Ah well- um…” She suddenly had a hard time remembering what the strange Eevee had told her-oh right. “S-so this bridge w-was built b-by a big Pokem-mon long ago- cause h-he didn’t want to touch th-the river?” that didn’t sound right. “I-it was better the way she to-told it but I thought that i-it was cool…” For once she was glad to be taking charge- her face couldn’t be any redder.

The other side of the bridge was a much rougher environment, jagged and uneven, it screamed ‘hidden dungeon’ to her. “… Do you think w-we should start  th-this way? u-up the river I mean…” She started moving sand around beneath her paw- now that they were here she really didn’t know what to do.

Hearing the tale, Reef seemed deep in thought as they proceeded across the bridge.
"Really? Ha, that almost sounds like a folk tale or even a myth!" He stared down over the bridge, seeing nothing but darkness below. One wrong step and he'd be waking up as a Ghost-type. Either that or get swept away by the tide of the river.

"The world just comes up with the craziest stories to tell us, huh? One myth I remember was some guy kills a Eelektross, and he buries its innards in the ground."
Reef makes a gesture similar to digging up the ground with his bare paws and putting something in it.

"And then suddenly, a palm tree grows where he planted the guts! Leading to natural formed food from trees." the young Pokemon laughed at the absurdity of the story he just told.

"But yeah, that's pretty interesting. I supposed that'd explain why the bridge looks the way it does. It looks like it was formed from the two cliff faces themselves. It hardly looks like a artificial structure." Reef looked at the point of origin as they made it to the other side.

"So strange..." He said to himself, looking at the bridge closely. Yet Reef turned his attention back to Peach. He could study the bridge later.

Hearing Peach suggest they start their search up the river, Reef nodded in agreement.
"Changes are it's probably hidden in a secret grove along the river. It says 'search beneath the rocks', so it could mean it's hidden underneath the very ground we're standing on," He snapped his fingers as he smirked.

"I bet if we follow the river, we might find a hidden passageway. Good thinking Peach!" He congratulated his partner for her suggestion.

The thought of a dead Eelektross being shoved into the ground made her queasy- things like that had always grossed out the fox Pokemon. “C-cool…” She tried to sound enthusiastic but- even thinking about it made her stomach churn. So she walked along the river’s edge trying to forget it.

Sand, sand, god she hated sand and how it got everywhere- but she kept checking the ground she was walking on for any differences. So far all she had gotten out of it was more sand in her fur. “M-maybe I was wrong I-“

The sand started swirling and spinning- and pulling Peach down with it. She tried her best to escape the pull but the next thing she knew she had tumbled (and hit her head rather hard in the process) onto the floor of something underneath the river? At least that’s what she thought. “R-Reef?” She yelled- well as loud as the soft spoken Fennekin could. “I-I think I- I think I found it!”

Reef, upon seeing the swirling sand, jumped out of the way so he wouldn't get sucked in.
But just as he did, he noticed his Fenniken partner being pulled under by the vortex. "PEACH!!!" he cried out in shock, taking a step forward before seeing his friend sink below the sand.

Fearing the worst, Reef slowly approached the sudden and strange phenomenon. The swirling sand itself was fascinating, but Reef couldn't think about that right now!
Hearing the Fire-type call out from inside, he breathed a sigh of relief.

From the sounds of it, they had just found their entrance to the 'hidden place'.

Reef slowly edged himself down the sand vortex, using his claws to slow his decent into the centre. Taking a deep breath as his head went under, he felt himself fall as he was completely submerged.

His eyes covered in sand, Reef rolled as he fell to lessen any injuries he'd receive.
Dusting the sand off of himself, he looked over to Peach. And immediately rushed to her side.

"Peach!" He said in worry, "Are you alright!? I thought I heard you hit something on the way down!" Taking a closer look, Reef noticed that she had hit her head rather hard.

"Hang on..." he said, rummaging through his bag, pulling out what appeared to be a small lump of ice. "Here you go," he offered it to Peach.

"Keep that pressed against your head. It should stop any swelling or bruising." His tone carried a genuine sense of worry and care towards Peach.

“Ah than-thank you…” When she placed the ice against the tender spot it was cold, but instead of the usual stinging it was rather nice. She guessed it was the fact they were in a warm place already.

When she took a look she noticed patterns all over the walls of the cavern, none of which looked familiar. “I-I’m sorry if I scared you, I-I didn’t know that w-was there…”

When she looked at the walls again- she noticed a faint glow to the symbols. But she decided to stay- and rest, her head was still throbbing.

Reef just shook his head, sitting down next to Peach as he himself took in the strange and new surroundings.
"Nah, it's alright," he said. "I was just a little worried you were seriously hurt. But I'm glad you're all right," the Riolu gave his usual smile.

"Really..." His ears faced downwards as he scratched his cheek. "I'm the one who should apologise. I...well I noticed the story I told upset you and everything. I didn't mean for that to happen. I promise I'll be more mindful of it now. Sorry..."

She blinked in surprise- she didn’t expect him to catch onto that. Though she’s been told by Boris she’s rather easy to read.

“I-I thought- I just don’t like h-hearing about things d-dying-“ She never did though she couldn’t recall exactly why. With a quick stretch she stood up, giving back the ice pack. The fox was quite curious about the marks on the wall- the glowing and everything just seemed to attract her. She briefly wondered what this place might of looked like in the past, maybe it was green and filled with plant life, or maybe it had always been a dry place. Peach followed the marks with her eyes, looking down the corridor… It seemed very long, suddenly she wondered how they would even get out of a place like this.

"I understand," Reef said. "Like I said, I promise I'll be more mindful."

As Peach stood back up, Reef launched himself back onto his feet by putting all of his weight into his legs.
Looking around alongside Peach, he too had begun to notice the glowing symbols that decorated the walls of these hidden ruins.

"They're really beautiful..." He said, his eyes tracking them down the same corridor that Peach had found.
A thought had occurred to him concerning the symbols themselves, yet he decided to stay quiet until he had more to support his theory.
"Well, only one way to go," Reef shrugged. Taking a few steps forward before stopping.

"Let's stick close together Peach," Reef turned to the Fenniken. "I've got a sneaking suspicion that there might be some traps down here. The riddle's mention of 'numbing death' has me worried. So we need to stay close and tread lightly."

A numbing death- the saying made a chill run down the fox’s back, but she stayed close, behind but close. Suddenly she was looking down to the floor for any ‘switch’ like rock or brick. “… Do you think p-Pokemon might o-of lived down here?” Ever since they had fell she had wondered, she didn’t look it but this stuff did fascinate her to some degree… I mean her mother- of what little she could recall, told her the magic they used was as old as Tabira itself. It made her curious to say the least.

"It's very likely," Reef said, tracing his paws along the walls to help feel for anything that could be important.
Faded runes, indications of traps, hidden rooms, whatever this odd place would have in store for them.

"I mean, it stands to reason that this place was created using carved stones, bricks, and mortars. So someone must have built this place. Though funny enough, I think I have a theory as to who..." Reef said, his suspicion of these ruins still very present in his mind.

"Peach?" Reef started, trying to use his Aura to feel around for anything peculiar. "You know those glowing symbols back there? It was strange the way how they glowed like that."
Reef pondered for but a moment before continuing.

"Do you sense anything related to magic in this place?" Reef asked the young Witch. "The way how those Symbols lit up like that, it kinda reminded me of your Magic. Do you suppose there's a connection?"
He asked in all sincerity, trying to make sense of this mysterious place they had found themselves in.

"If there is, then perhaps it's possible that this might have been a sort of temple for Witches back years ago. Granted, that's perhaps a stretch." Reef gave a nervous smile, one that tried to convey confidence in his own theory.

"So what do you think? Do you sense any Magic about the place?"

She glanced back at the wall-was ‘drawn to it’ an indication of that? “P-possibly?” She responded, unsure of it still. “I was j-just. Well I was r-remembering something- about magic… My mom use-used to tell me ours w-was as old as Tabira i-itself… I can’t really remember much e-else though…”

She felt tears welling up even mentioning her… but she was good at stopping that at least. She looked into a room that branched out from the long hall. There was old wood and other debris- but nothing she could glean as important.

“Nothing…” She mumbled out loud. It didn’t help that she really didn’t what they should be looking for- or looking out for.

Noticing a shift in Peach's Aura, sensing she was about to cry yet held herself back from trying, Reef's ears pricked up.
His own emotions sinking at realising that he inadvertently must have dredged up memories that Peach herself would rather not think about.

However, this time he decided to remain silent. Learning rather quickly that apologising to the fox would only make her feel much more sad. Especially on the subject of magic, it seems.

"It's only a theory though," He tried to sound peppy. "So I don't know how accurate I am with piecing together the facts." the Fighting-type chuckled.

"I mean, leave the guess work to actual archeologists," Reef tried to hand wave the whole thing with a smile, making sure Peach's feelings weren't hurt anymore.
"I'm just a tomb raider compared to people who've studied these sorts of things all their lives."

"Still..." Reef pondered. "I do think it's worth considering that this place IS linked to magic in one form or another," the boy himself peered into a room that branched off along the hallway. He still couldn't see anything that looked like treasure or the reward the riddle talked about.

"Ancient cobalt regalia from a forgotten era will be your reward..." He quoted the riddle from memory.
"So we're looking out for something that's a noticeable shade of blue, and something that looks like it was made for royalty," He broke down that part of the riddle to try and help himself and Peach out.

"So we're looking for something that could hold an insignia, like a banner or something along those lines," He explained out loud for Peach to understand.

He seemed very knowledgeable to her- she was raised on a farm so she knew how to raise plants and do labor work but this… Really she was lost as she could be.

“Mn- OK.” She hummed- just so the Riolu would know she wasn’t ignoring him. She decided then to waltz right into the tiny room- the more she looked at it, the more it seemed to be some bedroom? There was a faded and tattered cloth, an almost un-seeable pattern. With hesitation she started digging through the wood and debris, lifting things up with Psychic and placing them gently against the walls.

What are you doing?

Honestly she had no idea, she guessed looking for clues- anything really. Crk! That last Piece of wood was rather hard to remove-

The next thing she knew something had sprayed right in her eyes. She let out a shriek in surprise and stumbled backwards, hearing something skitter along the floor.

"Peach?!" Reef had heard the fox cry from within the room she was exploring while he investigated the one just down the hallway from it.

Peeling into the room at almost lighting speed, Reef caught a glimpse of Peach on the floor.
"Are you alright?! What happened?!" He said, hearing the faint sounds of something with multiple legs crawling across the floor.

Reef turned around, but the creature had jumped him with an ear-piercing shriek! Eyes glowing red and drooling like a rabid animal.
"Wh--!" Before he could finish that thought, a stinger drove into his arm as he raised it to try and put some distance between himself and the feral Pokemon.

"AGH!!" He yelled in pain, feeling it sink beneath his fur and through his skin. With a well placed kick, he pried off the Pokemon responsible, leaving it exposed in the faint glow of the corridor outside the room.

It was a Skorupi. Small, yet seemingly lacking in self preservation.

With one more shriek, it charged Reef and Peach once more. Intending it seemed, to have them as it's meal. With hardly a second to react, Reef developed tunnel vision at the immediate threat in front of them and selected the option that would help them the most.

"PEACH!" he cried in an almost commanding tone. "TORCH IT!"

Flailing about, blinded by whatever had been on her face, she quickly tried to wipe whatever it is off. It stung, it stung badly but she forced her eyes open. One would of thought she was crying but it was just from the liquid. It was poisonous wasn’t it? Was she gonna lose her eyesight, she thought- but when she saw the unknown attacker and Reef-

No-nonono.
