Steam rose from where the water on her body evaporated, and tufts of her fur had blackened. That irritated her more, but it was hardly dangerous. Xavier relented and watched carefully as she closed her eyes and focused, flicking one ear. But if Xavier had made a fatal mistake in this battle, that was it: her willpower allowed her to recover, slowly at first, and then completely. By the time Xavier had cottoned on to what was happening and stabbed at her with blazing speed, her eyes were open, she was ready, and she avoided the attack.
