"Acina Waverunner was a Sector Ranger who became embroiled in a high-profile corruption case involving members of the Galactic Senate. After seemingly solving the case, Acina and her partner began investigating loose ends, suspecting they had been led astray, a decision which resulted in Acina being captured and her partner killed. Escaping a slave transport shortly before it reached its destination, Acina was killed by a sniper and fell to her death, only to be found and saved by one of the residents of the high-tech city hidden on the surface of Nar Shaddaa, a place known as "The Under".

Implanted with bleeding-edge cybernetics, Acina became a mercenary, learning to survive in her ruthless new environment while searching for a way to return home, a feat she and her friends eventually managed to accomplish after years of work. When Acina returned home to her family with her girlfriend, Kelsie Sayaki, she thought her troubles were over, but when her home planet Shimka's Well was attacked by terrorists and her partner killed, Acina fell into a deep depression.

Returning to The Under, Acina joined forces with the upcoming gangster Lady Gravity, filling the underworld power vacuum she herself had helped to create before her departure. Becoming a ruthless enforcer, the former Sector Ranger was eventually hunted down and killed by Zhavi and Isla Waverunner, her own mothers, and her fate was sealed. Until, however, unbeknownst to all, the Force-wielder Azora Lambert used her access to arcane knowledge and devices to alter the past, preventing the attack that killed Kelsie Sayaki and rewriting Acina's dark destiny. Acina and Kelsie married, never knowing that they owed their happiness to Azora, nor how dark a path Acina might have walked had fate been less kind."
