[Hope you enjoy!]

The warm air of late spring felt like a soothing balm on his skin as Mark Irvine passed through the glowing portal and materialized in his studio apartment on the outskirts of Nekomi, Japan. His fatigue-addled 21-year-old brain screamed for relief as he plopped himself down into his office chair in front of his laptop and languished in the familiar surroundings of the space he had called home for seven months.

Gaining a moment of lucidity, he glanced back at the small mirror next to his closet which served as the portal that transported him between the world he knew, the mortal world, and that strange, fantastical world in the heavens that he had just returned from. He let the thought marinate in his head for a moment.

He had passed from his world...into another world...and back again...through a mirror...?

WHAT?!

Truth be told, he struggled every day with the notion that he had been asleep or dead this whole time, and his daily visits to the home of the gods was all in his head.

When the year had begun, he had been an up-and-coming open-wheel racing driver, who had come to Japan the year before to try his luck in the Formula Nippon championship. His hope, like most ambitious racers, was to use the series as a stepping stone to the European ranks, and gain the sponsorship necessary to get into Formula One some day.

For a while, it all seemed to come easy.

His hard-charging driving style had taken the racing establishment by storm and had earned him one of the best rookie seasons in the series' history. After winning three of nine races and finishing second in the championship behind his rival, Motoyama, his sophomore season promised to be the one that would get him noticed by a major sponsor, one that he would help him make his way to Europe.

But, just as it seemed he had everything going for him, it had all come apart.

A bad crash during a winter test session at Fuji Speedway had left him with a broken vertebra in his neck. He was told it would need several months to fully heal, and a team mechanic had recommended he spend his time productively. The mechanic was a graduate of the Nekomi Institute Of Technology, and offered to help Mark get into the school for a minor degree in engineering that would help build up Mark's knowledge of what made a racing car really tick. There was even an Auto Club there that might interest him...

Of course, if Mark had known what would happen when he got there...

His first trip to the motor club was nerve-wracking, awkward and not much else.

He had barely withstood Tamiya and Otaki's immense personalities as they showered him with hero worship.

As a result, he had kept the club and most of it's members at arms-length, eager to get away from the school and back in the car as soon as possible.

Then, that dreaded call had come.

The season was due to start soon and his sponsorship money had run out. The team could not wait for him to find a new sponsor. They had already signed another driver, and he was released from his contract.

Depression had gripped him like a vice, and he had grown even more reclusive, barely showing up at class and avoiding the Auto Club altogether.

Fortunately, all it had taken was a little kindness to lift his spirits again.

Keiichi Morisato, a second-year motor club member and his girlfriend with a strange name (Bell..Dandy?) had caught him in the halls one day and befriended him, urging him to spend more time with the club and that they accepted him despite his perceived failure.

Their child-like innocence and unwavering positivity had won him over, and he found himself not only a frequent participant in the club, but also a visitor at their house near an abandoned shrine high on a mountain.

That was when Mark’s sanity started to slip away, or so he believed…

Belldandy's two sisters, one of whom was a seductive bombshell, and the other a feisty pre-teen obsessed with machines and gadgets also shared the little shrine with the two lovebirds. Though Mark grew to like both of them (though he had to admit Skuld did not share his feelings), he could not help but grow anxious at the increasingly strange goings on that seemed to befall the household.

Little did Mark know, the three goddesses were not the only divine beings who had noticed his misfortune…

One fateful day, Mark had made the mistake of trying to make a call to his agent using Keiichi's phone. At first, he had thought he had dialed a strange phone-sex line run by a cult.

The "Earth Assistance Agency"...? What the hell was that?

Then, in a flash of white light, there she stood before his eyes...

The one with whom he would spend many days after...and whom would haunt his thoughts at nearly every waking moment...

The Goddess Peorth.

To say he was stunned at the awesome gravitas of a goddess before him would have been a massive understatement.

However, she had barely gotten an introduction out of her mouth when all of a sudden her body had begun to flash and phase in and out of existence, and before he knew it, both he and Peorth were encased in a sheath of blinding light...

When he came to, he was staring at a beautiful, idyllic futuristic cityscape that was awash in utter chaos.

Klaxons blared, women of every size, shape and description raced frantically in front of a giant tree-like spire, shouting about viruses and preventing a "fatal system error" in something called "Yggdrasil"?

Mark could not hope to process what was going on, but all his senses were able to tell him was that something very bad was happening, people were afraid and no one knew how to solve the problem. More than that, he hated chaos and nonsense, and it threatened to drive him mad. Compassion began to well up in his gut as if from a dam that had just burst.

He wanted to help more than anything.

Then, just as Peorth glanced to her right and wondered how he had been brought to Heaven with her, he had uttered the fateful words...

"I wish I knew how to fix this..."

Then suddenly, Peorth's body had lit up, lifting off the ground and causing a commotion that grabbed the attention of everyone in the room.

When she returned to the ground, she seemed stunned and confused, announcing to Mark that his wish had been granted.

Then, in a split second, it all made sense, he knew exactly what to do.

He couldn't believe it, but the knowledge was all there, right at the front of his mind...

Peorth had acted as a go-between, using her seniority to convey Mark's instructions and soon, the massive computer that ran the universe was back to normal, but Mark's troubles had only begun...

It had taken several long, tedious, gut-wrenching hours in front of The Almighty One and an intimidating tribunal of immortal beings to determine that although the granting of his wish had been a mistake, he had done Heaven a great service and it would be a waste to relieve him of his new-found abiilties.

So, even though he continued to question his sanity, the fact remained that Mark now served as a support technician for Yggdrasil, assisting a team of goddesses led by Peorth in diagnosing and fixing the many problems that befell the system.

He later found that his ties to Keiichi and Belldandy had also played a large part in The Almighty One's decision to let him stay.

The first several months had been difficult, and Mark had never felt more self-conscious in his life. He felt he were constantly being scrutinized, judged by the thousands of stares he received every day from the populace of heaven.

Fortunately, there was one goddess in particular who had stuck up for him on several occasions, and reminded him why it was worthwhile...

The problem was, he could never be sure what her motives really were. She could be so flighty and impulsive, her interests and fixations changing from one minute to the next.

As they had worked closer together, a familiarity had grown between the two, and the flirting had begun, though it was almost always one-sided in Peorth's favor.

He couldn't deny she was beautiful, and despite her nature, they both shared a genuine love of helping people.

Still, he couldn't help but feel condescended to, as if, even to her, he was still just a mortal.

They worked well together, but he was just a plaything who would never be her equal.

What did she want from him...?

---

Then, as if on cue, a flash of light burst from the phone, and the object of his thoughts appeared before him, a playful smile on her face as she floated over to him, her arms wide.

"Welcome home, mon cherie!" she said, her arms snaking around his shoulders as she brought him into an embrace.

"Heh, miss me already? I only left five minutes ago," Mark retorted, deciding to play along.

"Well, its no secret how hard you worked today. Everyone noticed, particularly me..." she cooed, a blush beginning to form on her cheeks as her eyes went half-lidded.

"Don't tell me you're turning down a warm welcome-home from your direct superior, are you?" she said, mock-annoyance lacing her tone.

Mark let out a long sigh and a grin slithered on his face as he shook his head in exasperation. It was much the same welcome he had received every time he showed up to Yggdrasil.

Peorth prided herself on her sensuality, and seemed as if she purposefully paraded her sexual energy around just to emphasize that point.

The sight of her black and tan garb that left little to the imagination, the sight of her ample breasts and curves of her thighs on particularly prominent display, the shred of fabric that barely covered her nether regions; he could not deny that it tugged and yanked at his arousal more than any other woman ever had.

Still, he could not help but be disappointed at the knowledge that deep down, it was all a game.

He was the flavor of the month and he knew it.

Still, he thought, no reason not to enjoy the ride while it lasted.

"Don't you have something better to do?" Mark chuckled, his brow furrowing in mock-annoyance, trying to match Peorth move-for-move.

His breath caught in his lungs for a moment as the goddess' expression suddenly hardened, and she released him from her grasp, standing pensively a few feet away from him.

"Actually...no, I've been meaning to talk with you, Mark-chan."

Mark's hazel eyes grew wider as he tried to process her meaning. It was very unlike Peorth to be this earnest.

"What about?"

"We've...I won't lie to you, when you first came to Heaven, I didn't think you'd stay long."

"What do you mean?"

"Well, for a mortal to be granted the knowledge of the gods...it's just unbelievable! It was an accident to begin with and I half-expected The Almighty One to take it away from you on the spot," she said, failing to meet his gaze as an awkward expression appeared on her face.

Mark began to feel a black pit began to form in his gut, he did not like where this was going, it was only confirming his suspicions about Peorth. The one woman who had been his closest supporter during his time in Heaven did not truly believe in him.

He was just a mere mortal after all.

"But..." she began, her grin returning to her face as she floated back towards him, bringing her face tantalizingly close to his. Yet, Mark was surprised to see that she hadn't gone completely back to her childish game, something genuine remained in her demeanor.

"You've put your heart and soul into the job the Almighty One gave you, and people are beginning to notice how well we work together...I've noticed."

"You and I...I never thought I'd come to respect a mortal like I respect you, but I do. We've done some amazing things, together Mark-chan..." Peorth cooed as she leaned in, cupping her gloved hands around his cheeks.

"I want to take this to the next level...what do you say? Want to do something even more amazing...?"

Mark's mouth hung open in surprise, his eyes as wide as saucers and his heart threatening to beat out of his chest.

Respect? She respected him?

Surely not.

On the other hand, was she just using her flirtatious behavior to hide how she truly felt, like she wasn't ready to admit it until now?

Either way, the thought of deepening their relationship was tempting, tantalizing even. As immature as she could be, he could not deny he found her utterly stunning, and a voice within his head began prodding at his better judgment, urging him to give in to her.

But, no.

He knew her far to well by this point to fall for this kind of trick, if that's what it was.

There was definitely something out of character about how she was speaking to him, maybe she was being honest, but it was not nearly enough to overcome his doubt.

"Peorth, please, I don't buy it. You're a first-class Goddess, I'm aware that you have clients all the time who might ask you to fulfill their...desires. And...even if you didn't, let's be honest, you're not the type to tie yourself down to anyone, least of all a mortal. How do I know I can trust you?" Mark said, his gaze hardening as he tried to harden his heart to her.

"Mon Cherie! Don't wound me like that...," Peorth exclaimed, her eyes shooting wide in surprise as she looked away from him for a moment. Mark felt a cold sharp pike of regret pierce his heart, he could tell she was trying to play it off, but that his comment had truly stung her.

"Peorth..."

"For one thing, silly mortal, as a first-class goddess, I'm incapable of telling a lie. For another thing, even if that weren't the case, wouldn't it be fun to find out anyway...?" She trailed off, her tone almost apologetic, as if she were pleading with him.

Before Mark could process the change in her behavior, she leaned in even closer, an even expression on her face as her cheeks began to turn several shades of crimson.

"Either way, I will tell you this: I pride myself on delivering the best service in heaven...even in matters like these."

She leaned in closer to him, an insatiable hunger flaring in her eyes as she stopped mere inches from his face. Mark's heart was in his mouth as he felt his pants become uncomfortably tight, Peorth's hot breath washing over his face like fierce ocean waves. After a long beat, Peorth cast her brown eyes directly into his soul, and, though he had no idea how, he could feel her words reverberate throughout his very being.

"I won't let you down. Whatever happens between us, I'll be there for you. That's a promise..."

Before Mark could object, Peorth's eyes slipped shut and she closed the distance between them. Mark's eyes opened wide as saucers as he felt the warm moistness of her lips brush against his, her hands holding his head with a possessiveness that was almost, dare he think it, desperate?

The exhilaration Mark felt at her touch seemed to lull him into a warm, mellow trance-like state, and his body seemed to act on its own as he closed his eyes, and returning her kiss eagerly.

Truly, he had wanted this too.

His fondness for her had grown steadily over the past several months, and though he was still mildly unsure of her motivations and where such a relationship could potentially lead, something about her tone had convinced him to take a chance. She had never acted this way around him, nor anyone else as far as he knew. Though he could tell she did not quite know how to go about telling him how she felt, he appreciated her effort.

Maybe this could work out...

The kiss lasted for several long moments before Mark and Peorth pulled apart. Slowly, as the moment passed, a grin formed on Mark's face as he looked up to gaze at her warm, sensual visage.

"Okay."

A wide, warm smile of triumph blossomed on the goddess' face before she leaned in to whisper in his ear, her soft breath tickling and teasing every nerve ending in his body.

"Vous m'avez rendu très heureux. Mon amour..." she purred, before leaning back in for another kiss.

Peorth's soft lips met his yet again, and before long he felt her tongue probing needily at his lips, begging for entrance. By this point, he was thoroughly entranced and enraptured by her acts of affection and was only too eager to return the favor.

After a few long moments, they broke apart, and a long, comfortable silence hung in the air as they held each other close, a sense of anticipation slowly building between them as their bodies longed for more.

Then, a strange thought crossed Mark's mind as he regarded the brown-haired goddess.

"Heh, I'm surprised The Almighty One let us do that...aren't they trying to keep Keiichi and Belldandy from...?"

"I can't be sure, but I think he might getting used to the idea of a mortal and an immortal...those two have been together for a long time after all..."

Then, a mischievous grin slithered onto the goddess's face as she released Mark from her grip and brought her hands to her shoulder straps. Mark's breath caught in his throat as she pulled the strap down her chest tantalizingly slowly, revealing her ample cleavage. A sultry giggle escaped her lips before she motioned over to the bed that lay at the far end of the room.

"Want to find out what else the Almighty one will let us get away with, mon amour?"
