I love the level of detail in this piece! Is there a story behind it?

Nothing in particular, I like birds and working with metal, and the idea just came itself. But you may tell your own story .

How can I learn about your process? I'm wondering how you create your images, and come up with source materials. Often I find it very difficult to paint imagined objects and spaces. You need to be able to "see" it one way or another to get it right and believable... So could you shed some light on your process, or if you've already written about this could you provide a link? Many thanks, incredible work, keep painting!

You've probably expected something else, but the only thing I can tell you is that it comes with practice. I sometimes used models or photos in the past, but I don't find it necessary anymore. When you paint something for a hundredth time you just know what it should look like. So just keep observing light, shade and colour, and paint a lot.

Hell of a lot better just because of how small the painting is. that much detail on that small of a space is wicked.
