his story was began in Ninjago universe. where they were ambush by group of criminal. kai fell to the crystal call black dark crystal which contains corruption. as he got up... he see that his little sister nya was kill... he start on rampage to kill all criminals... Lloyd, cole, Zane and jay try stop him but they end up get kill... even Wu can't beat him... after his rage was over... he realised that he kill everyone that he love... he regret for everything... not before the dark one came and blame the order of species creator didn't warn about it. he joined the dark one... after his body was destroy... his soul was inside robot call dark drone... he lost his left eye and arm. he was repair and continue to go mission. he watch every heroes and villain movement and ability... which make him idea to make the dark drone new armour...kairox:*evil laughing*
