This is done in ArtRage 2 using burning and uh...what was it...shadowing? And lots of layers! Lots of layers is how I cheat. The flames are drawn as big blobs of light at first, and then I go in with the eraser and sorta cut out fire shapes.
I think you've got awesome stuff yourself, so a watch goes with out sayin' ya know. :]
