I have so much to say about this parallel, and really everything that sets EQG apart from FiM. I'll probably write about it on my tumblr at some point. But the thing I love THE MOST is how these are functionally the same characters (and in Twilight's case, literally), and yet there's things about their personalities that diverge from each other because they live in such different circumstances, enough to make them distinctly their own and their stories individually interesting.

don't even get me STARTED on Sunset Shimmer and Starlight Glimmer. They play the same role but are TOTALLY different people without being so wildly contrasting that they wouldn't make sense in (technically) the same friend circle. So fucking Cool.
