The Alpha Centauri triple system is the closest star system to us. The system has three stars, they are Alpha Centauri A, Alpha Centauri B, and Proxima Centauri. Alpha Centauri A and Alpha Centauri B are sun-like stars that orbit each other, meanwhile Proxima Centauri is a small red dwarf that is too dim to be visible from Earth without a telescope. Alpha Centauri A is thought to have a planet larger than Neptune orbiting it, but we still don't know for sure if it exists or not. Alpha Centauri B was thought to host 2 planets, Alpha Centauri Bb and Alpha Centauri Bc. But more recent studies disprove the existence of Alpha Centauri Bb. Proxima Centauri has 3 known planets so far although the existence of one of them, Proxima Centauri C, is still controversial. But one of the other planets, Proxima Centauri B, is most likely a super earth with very habitable conditions for life.
