I had always complained that my girlfriend took too long getting ready. Before going out, I would always be ready at least 30 minutes before she was. We argued about it regularly; I couldn’t understand how it took so long, and she’d say her hair needed looking after. I guess the universe heard us and decided to play a cruel joke.

I woke up to the sound of a man screaming. I bolted upright and looked at… myself? I-, or should I say ‘he’, was stood in-front of the mirror, now looking down his boxer shorts. “What the fuck is go-” I stopped, suddenly noticing my high pitched voice. We made eye contact and realised that we had swapped bodies.

For a few days we didn’t leave the house, scouring the internet to try to find out what had happened and how to reverse it. My girlfriend marvelled at her new-found strength and height, while I tried to adjust to my smaller frame. It felt strange being the weak one in the relationship, especially when she towered over me.

Eventually, we had to leave the house to get more food. We had both agreed it would be fair to go together, so I threw on her tank top and jeans. Before we left, though, my girlfriend stopped me. “Are you going to do anything about your hair?” She asked, with a smirk on her face. She then took great pleasure watching me wrestle with my new hair, trying to tame and detangle it. I felt so embarrassed as she laughed at me. It was even more humiliating when I had to ask her for help. I never knew how hard it was.
