Originally, I had assumed that the passageway atop the stairs was directly above the three doors, with a staircase on each side. Now I see that the illustration could be interpreted as having the larger staircase leading directly to the passageway, with the smaller one and the three doors all off to the left. It took some juggling, but I managed to get several key points lined up.
