Windows XP, released to the public on October 25, 2001, was the first Windows OS to have a combination of both the 9X and NT kernels, which was part of Microsoft's effort to make a transition in its OS's from the old 9X kernels to full NT kernels while also letting users transfer the data from their old computers to this new fusion-kernel OS.
Windows XP was not only immensely stable throughout the OS's lifetime, XP also had an undeniable, albeit a little unconventional, charm to the OS's user interface and aesthetic, which may have been a bit jarring at the turn of the millennium, especially since the 9X-era OS's looked so different, and was the first of the Windows OS's to have a home and professional version under the same OS name and branding, which had not been done with Windows OS's before the release of XP.
With this, it truly is no wonder that Windows XP managed to steal the hearts of countless millennials in the early 2000's and manages to charm lots of Windows users after the OS's support ended in 2014 and even to this day, to the point of becoming a legendary post-millennium pop-culture icon like no other.
