If you have a spare elective slot, I really recommend a life drawing class. I learned so much in there. Alternately, try this: [link] It has some great figure drawing and heads references, and it goes through the proportions more or less like the class would.

So, no time for a redline atm, but I can give you a verbal (textual?) outline of proportions. From a side view, the place where the ear joins to the head is in the very center, so there should be more to the back of the skull than what you've got currently. Horizontally, the place where the top of the ear joins to the skull lines up with the corner of the eye. The corner of the mouth lines up with the center of the eye, from side and front views. After putting the eyes in the center of the head, the tip of the nose sits 1/2 way down the bottom half of the face, and the mouth 1/2 of that remaining part. The base of the nose (where it attaches) is about 2/3 down the head. Oh, and this is also where the bottom of the ear attaches to the head.
