great piece man... I stopped reading X-men prior to gambit coming around. I think I'm going to need to find some good trades, he's talked about with such enthusiam... and Wolverine was my favorite 20 odd years ago.

The best Gambit stuff happened in the mid to late 90's. I would recommend anything from Uncanny X-Men involving him, especially when Joe Mad was on the book, around issues #325ish leading up to Uncanny #350 "The Trial of Gambit". His mini series that followed was okay. Then lastly I'd say check out X-Treme X-Men by Claremont and Salvador Lorocca from 2001. In my opinion these are the best stories with Gambit at the core. Everything since has been trash to me.

I can't say I've ever seen anybody else draw so much like Shinkawa even with pencil work, though. Like people have said, it suits. I really like it.
However the film turns out, it sure looks like fun. ^_^

I'm just happy they're finally bringing in Gambit. After the 90's cartoon, they never really made him a main character again. Him and Jubilee, its sad.

I know, Gambit is a lot more cool than some of the other characters they put in the movies. I guess I just won't understand that, even if the upcoming movie is total shit, I can't help but be excited for it.
God I love Trent Reznor's work. NIN is my fave band, I recently saw him in concert about two months ago.

Personally, I'll take the plain look. I'll be the first to tell you that Gambit's comic getup looks pretty darn silly with all that magenta and the blue metal boots. The half-mask works in the comics, but I think it'd translate badly in real life.
Everyone in the movies are really stripped down visually. I think it works though...they blend in with normal folk. Gambit just looks like the suave, well dressed Cajun that he is. And Wolvie looks like a convincing rough-neck lumberjack. The way it should be!
