"Tragedia" is an immensely moving painting, reminiscent of Boris Vallejo and his style. The sharp contrast of stone to live flesh and clothing is striking. The fact that some of the gargoyles have eyes or facial expressions that seem to be alive or express sympathy to the young woman, her baby and her plight gives "Tragedia" a rather surreal atmosphere. And the architecture in the background gives the entire painting a sort of a scale, showing how tiny and insignificant the live woman must appear in this dead and emotionless world of dead stone.Β
