Very amazing concept! I could totally see this in our very near future makes much more sense then colonizing mars not as far not as big of risk perhaps a temporary escape to let earth repair her self. Amazing!

I've been watching documentaries about the futuristic cities, your deviation fits completely in that era. Through Nanotech and Quantum Mechanics I think it'll be feasible to simulate an entire earth-continent on board huge spaceships.
