The inspiration to this story is a woodcut picture I remember from my childhood home, titled “Those Who Never Shall Meet”, showing a stylisized man walking atop a bridge and a stylisized woman walking below it. Making me now as an adult man realize the meaning of the symbolism in it: There is a certain barrier in the complete understanding between him and her that never in eternity can be surmounted. The solution to this dilemma is simply to accept this wall and make the best understanding that is after all possible – and not trying to pass it…
