Description
A more unconventional project I was involved with here was taking a well established older mold of Mastermind Creations; their first masterpiece figure named Sphinx from a few years back, based on the G1 character Mirage and giving it a toon-ified edit.

This process involved altering the design so as to remove a lot of the upper surface paint detailing to clean up and simplify his appearance while also adjusting all the material colors and some of their treatments as well.

Previously the missile, wheels and engine block were all chromed, I made them all metallic silver. I had his white parts changed to a purer shade and took away the dark grey elbow, knee and hip joint color, making those parts white as well. Similarly the Citanes and 26 detailling on his side panels was the wrong way around relative to animation accuracy on previous releases of the toy so I had that switched to be fixed.

We also gave him a new face sculpt, one much closer to the animation and I made that a pale soft blue as I felt silver wasn't as appropriate for it as it was the accessories and vehicle parts.

Lastly a I added the white accent detail to either side of his crotch piece, a minor but important detail very specific to the animated character. The final result is a cleaner, crisper look for the toy I'm very pleased with.
