Quite time consuming but I'm a bit satisfied (I like this colorful ships fighting) and clouds are painted on my own, feel free to say what do you think

Just a bit of magic
More seriuos, I did in photoshop, blended some of my fractals from apophysis in the background, add planets made from textures from [link] and added some photomanipulated space ships and here it is.
I don't think it is something special when it comes to techniques I used, it was easy but time consuming beacuse of many small things to do. This was the only one hard thing to deal with - time

Oh I like the colours in this piece, although the composition is a little be odd in this one too. I think the Canvas size you used is a little too square. The Flair is not bright enough and I think that the Spaceships should all be going in the same direction. I would have modelled and rendered a spaceship and put it in front, so you see the back of it heading towards the flair.

the shadow of the clouds should be softer, the hard contrast make them look a bit artificial, they would blend better if they were softer, the bad thing is that you lose a bit of 3d effect
also, it doesn't look quite like an invasion,also you could make the ships look a little bit more fearing.
