hi! someone stole your idea [link]
I know it's not art theft but it's still annoying and disgraceful

doesn't necessarily have to be stolen, i mean i havent done anything like this but when i was thinking of ideas exactly this idea came across my head (just idea in general, not dog an mouse). Also many people including great artists do work similar to the works of masters of the past. Im 100% behind being original, but i don't think it's disgraceful :

I see where you're coming from, but there's a difference between being inspired by an artist's work and trying to emulate his style for the purpose of learning, and copying one of his concepts in the exact same way, not giving credit and getting praise for the originality of the idea ... because that guy wasn't just inspired by *abraaloucas concept, he actually copied it in the exact same way, and while it might not be disgraceful it's still lame and he should have given credit to this image. I think it's only fair ... it's pretty much like stealing someone's idea and getting praise for it

i can agree to that, given that he did steal the idea... you see i wrote this for a reason, i am thinking up of ideas at this very moment. You see i am majorly annoyed as i came up with an idea which i personally think is very good and i was happy, but then i realized that although this idea is quite rare some masters from the past already came up with it. I didn't look at any other works or anything to come up with this idea, it came purely from my ideas project through investigation. Me being all happy i came up with something original only to find out its not as original as i thought, really annoys me. Nevertheless i came up with it myself and it's quite rare i claim it my own discovery, which is not wrong many people can come up with the same thing at different times and places, and disclaiming their idea is wrong (as long as it wasn't copied). However one day i will come up with an idea that no one ever came up with before! urghh so frustrating >_<

Oh I understand now what you meant... well as far as that is concerned I think you shouldn't be frustrated because as someone-very-smart-whose-name-I-cannot-remember said "Ideas are universal" and he also said that we do not actually produce the ideas, but that they already exist and us humans, regardless of historic time and place, come across them, through our different cognitive processes... but those ideas are not the fruit of our own mind but we've just discovered their existence with our minds (I don't know if that makes sense ) ... it's not for nothing that they say "Great minds think alike" so you should actually be proud to have found an idea on your own, which wasn't induced by external influences, and which later proves to have been thought by a great master as well
It actually happened to me too recently, that an idea I had for a uni project, which had come to me out of nowhere like an epiphany while riding the bus and which completely amazed my teachers, had already been thought and produced by another artist only 60 km away from where I live. Her idea was exactly the same as mine only that she had shaped it in a slightly different way. But anyway, if you are annoyed by the fact that it makes you feel unoriginal, maybe you should start thinking that as long as the rendition of the idea is not copied after the work of the master (meaning to depict that idea in the same style, same perspective, point of view, light colour etc.) but it's just the concept of it that is similar to his, then there is no problem with that. Just find your own way of expressing that idea, find a different way of telling the same message, if it is a message you believe in yourself. After all, aren't all the movies in the world pretty much saying the same story but in different ways?
What annoyed me about that particular guy was that, like I said, he stole this artist's idea along with its exquisite representation which in terms of art is an impressive balance of composition, light and colour. He didn't look for his own way of saying that "Good fights Evil through kindness" he just changed the background and the little guy, failed at rendering the image in a quality as amazing as this one, and takes the credit for coming up with it. So he should be giving credit to this artist.
BTW *abraaolucas I apologize for the irrelevant wall of text in your comments box ^^'

I can't even begin to describe how much I love this. Call me what you like, but I think it shows how little chance good has in this world, but it somehow pulls through. Utterly beautiful.
