Chapter 2 - Potion Problems

Before we had taken off to Target's castle we stopped by my cabin again to pick up any personal belongs of mine. I really didn't need much armour or unpowered weapons because Target was also going to give me new gear. I got my black shulker box out from a chest and started putting my multiple photos from my life. One of which was me and Katelyn at my birthday party. I don't know why, but something about the way Katelyn looked so oblivious, so happy, that sent a chill of envy down my spine. She knew of my suffering, and she asked if I was ok every night, but she never did anything! Katelyn said she couldn't, she could be killed, but I am her friend! Friends always look out for each other...

I stuffed the last of my things and sighed,

No

I'm not going to grief about my life, I'm proud! My father thought he put me through hell? Well, maybe I like hell, because heaven doesn't want me and hell's afraid I'll take over. Hell is probably right.

I walked outside to where Target and Midnight were waiting outside. Midnight had her tail over her paws and was staring sternly into the snow. Target just shrugged and looked back up at me.

"Ready?" He asked, saddling onto his horse again. He gave me a grin, but not a nice grin, a mischievous one. I loved it and returned the same image, flashing my white fang like teeth. I climbed on and put Midnight in between my lap and Target's back. Then we were off.

The acceleration of the horse blew my hair back way far from my face, the windchill seemed even cooler. There was a light thumping from the hooves, 'Thump, Thump, Thump'. I felt myself drowning into deep sleep, resting my head against Target's back. I could hear his heartbeat move to the rhythm of the horse, and a hand was placed on my head.

(La time skip :3)

As I jutted awake by a sudden stop, I saw we were already there. Netherbrick stairs led up to a lava surrounded castle. The lava warmed me, like a soft hug of a mother and a snow day. I never knew who my mother was, but I assumed she may have been killed, probably by me when I was born. She would've also had power, since father didn't have any. Target tied to horse to a nearby fence post and stroked it's mane once more before turning to me.

"I'm still surprised you came!" He commented, walking up the stairs a gesturing for me to do the same. I felt my cheeks get red hot and I looked straight at him.

"It was a decision of life and death." I replied racing ahead of him.

"Come on! You know that's not the only reason." Target taunted, skipping ahead of me and blowing me a soft kiss.

"Just met. No kiss." I pointed a finger in his direction. He put it down and grinned.

"Ok, only friends, for now." Target chuckled and walked behind me with his hands in his armour pants. I walked into the castle and immediately smelled a toxic stench of poison in the air. A girl was working on a potion stand in the far corner of the room, putting chunks of fermented spider eye into a large bottle filled with think blue water, which was already turning green. She looked up at us, and a smile slowly formed on her face.

"This her?" She asked in Target's direction. Target nodded and climbed upstairs. The girl was so distracted that poison fumes started turning into a liquid and were spilling onto the table. I noticed first.

"Uh... Potion on the run!" I cried in alarm, rushing over to were she was working. The girl then noticed and hurried to a chest, scrambling to get something. She then pulled out two sets of gloves and tossed one pair to me.

"Put those on and grab an empty bottle." She told me, putting corks on the two open bottle of the brewing stand. I grabbed a bottle standing upright against a wall and rushed back.

"Uncork the top and put the rim on the edge of the table." She ordered, and started to herd the liquid with cupped hands. The liquid slowly dropped into the bottle and it became about half full. Putting the cork back on, I handed the potion back to her.

"I'm Veeva by the way." She introduced herself.

"I'm Absol."

"I know, Target rambled on and on about you." Veeva laughed put the spare potion in a chest.

"You surely seemed like you knew what you were doing. Wanna help?" Veeva asked. I nodded and helped make Veeva potions for the rest of the morning.

When we started creating the poison tipped arrows, I asked a rather odd question.

"Who are we using these on."

"Our enemy of course." Veeva answered, giving me a rather evil laugh. I laughed back.

"He and his friends live in a city over yonder." Target stated suddenly appearing back at the bottom on the stairs. I thought his eyes looked wet, like he was crying, but I shook it off.

"I'm getting the feeling we're villian yeah?" I giggled.

"Oh heck yeah." Target nodded, smirking yet again. This was a wonderful place! I could be myself here.
