Southwood Conservation Area, western Iowa USA. I went up there to shoot the sunrise, but the view to west was better.Related content

Nice. Reminds me of some of the quick little watercolor paintings I did. I photograph and paint rural and prairie landscapes a lot because I live by a lot of forest preserve in DuPage county, in northern Illinois.

Thanks! I like the painting! I was in Illinois this summer - thought I'd check out Starved Rock but didn't realize it was Labor Day weekend. I learned that all Illinois residents are apparently required to visit that park on that weekend. The next morning, I started 3 parks farther south and had much better results.

Starved Rock is always super crowded when it's warm. My dad always took us to Matthiessen state park instead, which has more impressive canyons anyways.
