Description WARNING! LARGE FILE.

I've noticed that some people (minority. haha) asked me to show them how do I color. So I decided on making my very first tutorial. Though it's not much of a tutorial, it's just me explaining how I do my coloring.

This is a tutorial for my work entitled A K A I

I'm sorry if it doesn't help you much. This is my very first tutorial and I have no experience on doing so.
If you still don't understand what I'm blabbering about in there, please don't hesitate to ask me.

oh, this is a great tutorial~!!
just one question if you don't mind though :3
how do you get it to go in different directions?
do you just let it drip in different directions, or do you use the brush to move it that way?

abusedmember In reply to BlueSnowGiesha [2009-02-19 07:49:31 +0000 UTC]

thank you.

depends on which drip you're talking about. the one around ruki was done by blowing it to various directions. but the long one under him, i used the dripping technique. :3

Can you please help me out with pencils?what types of pencils are required for a better drawing?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

abusedmember In reply to shinobi344 [2009-02-18 15:59:54 +0000 UTC]

well, i don't mind using any pencils, because i'll end up covering it with inks later on. but for sketches, i recommend using HB pencils first, then use the 2Bs if you want to make it bolder.

This is really good! I didn't have any trouble understanding it, either. Have you ever used tube paints before? They're supposed to give you more vibrant colors, but the downside is that you have to go get a pallette XD I wouldn't know, though, because all I ever use is tube paints

abusedmember In reply to Bambiman [2009-02-18 14:04:21 +0000 UTC]

the pentel paints are tube paints.
i use both. but i really like the sakura one.

Bambiman In reply to abusedmember [2009-02-18 21:09:30 +0000 UTC]

The bookstore at my school only carries tube paints, so I let the government buy my art supplies for now

I think I'm about to hit a dry spell soon, though. I can't think of anything to paint or draw. I can't make a picture for the sake of making a picture, I need a message or idea to make a picture, and my brain's decided that I'm not going to get any of those right now haha

oh wow, sorry about getting off topic there. I don't think I can get sakura paints anywhere around here. All I can find is Winsor & Newton paints.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

abusedmember In reply to Bambiman [2009-02-19 07:53:01 +0000 UTC]

i use both of them because they have their advantages.

try experiencing something new. see, hear, taste, feel something new. that's how i get my inspiration. but mostly i listen to something or look at something. :3

winsor are fairly expensive here. haha. so i'll be sticking to sakura.

Bambiman In reply to abusedmember [2009-02-19 18:05:42 +0000 UTC]

they're pretty expensive here too, but winsor & newton is what my school's bookstore carries and that's the closest thing we have to an art supply store around here XD

oow that was interesting ... and totally understandable btw ^^ it's always fun to see how different artists use their medias, although I kinda use a very similar techinque when I paint with watercolors ...

abusedmember In reply to NotikaOrWhatever [2009-02-18 13:33:41 +0000 UTC]

thanks, i'm glad that you can understand that. haha.
i'm not good at explaining things.

that's great, now that i've already shown the secret of my ways (not so secret actually. haha), i guess everybody will know that i use a pretty simple and common technique. haha.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

NotikaOrWhatever In reply to abusedmember [2009-02-20 19:06:23 +0000 UTC]

np ^^ and you did fine at explaing everything (haha and it must be really understandable if even I got it x3 )

well I think the simplicity of a technique makes it more effective, although the skill in this techinique still plays alot...

abusedmember In reply to NotikaOrWhatever [2009-02-21 04:45:48 +0000 UTC]
