you picked me like the crow picks the sparrow
to sing with. i'm not sure why.
we sound like grinding gears
and breaking glass together,
as harmonious as the car crash
i drove by while the song you liked played.

i settled like marrow in your bones; i had no other choice.
you tugged me in and asked me to
settle. please, just settle...
you left out for me but i knew and did just that.
i've never done it for anyone since.

we made choices; most of them each other.
i'm not sure how we never managed
to pull clear of our disaster.
we have tried though. this attempt is still panning out.
