Description
i swore i'd never set foot in the sea
after the last rent its tide pool waves from me,
but this morning i woke up with
an underwhelming fear of the deep,
and already the water chases my calves.

it really doesn't matter how far away i've been
from your waves, grappling at my hips like
bone-thin wolves because
when you are near again you gulp over me,
a heavy waxing tide, but only for a moment
and like a tide-froth you're gone.

they've told me that no one
knows what infinity looks like,
but i know now,
i have seen it in your gaze.
it's in the way the ocean beats the shore,
stretching out of eyes reach but still
coming back for more.
