Description Welcome back, folks! Here's another character I spent significant amounts of time drawing a few pictures of, and came up with a backstory for, but are now on the back-burner to focus on my seven main characters. Her name is Faith, and she's a coyote, and (guess what) she's blind! That's right, folks. Faith is blind. Her armor (particularly the plated pieces) are supernaturally durable, and her shield can create force fields around her. Her sword has supernatural penetration ability, and can generate beams of light. She doesn't have wings of her own like a valkyrie, but he has a bird pet named Angel that can grow to become her winged mount. She has a civilian form that looks like an ordinary young woman with a walking stick, but can armor up by reciting an incantation. Anyway, Faith is loosely based on the legendary Joan of Arc. The backstory I have for her? She comes from a place similar to medieval France, but of course in a world of furries. Faith was born the daughter of a pair of innkeepers and had an older brother named Peter (I think I originally named him Michael after the archangel, but since I have Cowl's foster brother named Michael, I thought Peter would be less confusing). Faith wanted to grow up to be a knight, but was struck blind upon sneaking a look into "The Cask of Destiny" (Which is her world's version of the Arc of the Covenant). Permanently blinded, Faith was considered ineligible to become a knight and became horribly depressed, relegated to serving at her parents' inn, where the lodgers occasionally abused her. However, her older brother comforted her and she worked with him to become a knight. That, of course, isn't the end of the story. An evil ruler came to the kingdom with an unnamed demon and challenged the strongest knights to battle it. Faith's brother was the first to fight it, and at first appeared to be victorious. But the demon rose again, claiming that the only way to kill it was to speak its name, which nobody knew. The demon killed Faith's brother, and any other knight or warrior that fought against it. The evil ruler thus took over the kingdom and enslaved the populace, including Faith and her parents. One day, Faith managed to escape, and was not pursued as the evil empire thought a random blind girl was beneath their notice. However, Faith was led by the spirit of her brother to a cave, where she trained for years in not only combat training but research and scripture reading. At the end of her training, she received blessed mystical armor and a sword, but this alone was not enough to destroy the demon that killed her brother. She demanded to be told the demon's name, to which she was directed to a scripture she'd been told many times before: "Simply speak the name, and the demon will be gone". Angered by the apparent futility of the scripture, Faith attacked her mentor, only to discover that he was another spirit. Faith returned to her kingdom after befriending a supernatural bird named "Angel", and fought against the demon that had killed her brother. Upon defeating it, the demon again demanded that she speak it's name. To this, she replied "You are The Name." This was the only answer that could destroy the demon, and it returned to the underworld, taking the evil ruler with it. Having saved her home kingdom, she remains as a renowned knight to defend it from the forces of evil. Cool story, huh? Anyway, more content to come, so stay tuned. And as always, thanks for clicking!
