There is a brief story to this painting. Well, I moved to Germany and started going out at around 19 years old (10 years ago). I used to go to a cool club called Villa (near Heidelberg). Some people can get very high. Once, a stranger dude who was very very high approached me and just wanted to talk to me because everyone else just ignored him. He was alone and apparently did not have a nice trip. We talked about life and how difficult it can be. Apparently, sometimes life can fck up you very hard and you see no way to get out of your pool of problems. People search for drugs to numb their pain. It is understandle. Yet it is not a solution. Anyhow, I remember him spiraling down and at some point spending the rest of the night on a couch. Somehow I liked him. He seemed to be a very nice person, just lost control over his life. I remember looking after him for a while (because none else cared). I remember how the whole situation struck me: that seemingly lifeless body on a couch while dozens of people were having fun and dancing around. And none cared. I hope we can learn how to care about people more, especially those in need of support. Being high does not imply that person is aggressive or some kind of wreck.
